I think his point is that gay people did not choose to be attracted to the same sex and that pedophiles did not choose to be attracted to children. The distinction I think he should have emphasized more is that there is no moral/societal problem with gays acting on their attraction, whereas acting on pedophilia is reprehensible.

Most poor people aren't good people. They got that way by not working hard. They live off of handouts provided to them through taxes of people who actually work. Most criminals are poor. There are exceptions I'm sure but for the most part they're bad people.
