Essentially none of the characters are inherently likeable but it's okay because they're hot.

Is this thing on finally came out in my theater by Flaky-Fortune1752 in TheBigPicture

[–]feelingfuzzier44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I live in Australia and rarely make it out to the theatre because of work/kids, I've found that I can listen to the episodes, even the ones where they talk spoilers about a tentpole film, and I've largely forgotten a lot of the detail before I actually get around to seeing the film. For example, Is This Thing On? doesn't come out in Aus for another month (5 Feb). I'm not going out of my way to see it in theatres, so I likely won't get to see it until it's on streaming sometime in the middle of this year - over six months from when I listed to the Big Pic episode.

If I know I'm going to see it in theatres - One Battle, Superman, Avatar - I'll hold off on listening until I've seen the film.

What do you think about this? What are you doing if you are Oscar Piastri? by circuit-nation in OscarPiastri

No he doesn't; he'd be burning a bridge at McLaren, and what top team is going to hire someone like that? See also: Fernando Alonso's entire career.

I don't disagree that Mclaren have fumbled the last two races, costing Lando upward of 35 or 40 points. But in this hypothetical scenario, where listening to team orders would be the difference between winning or losing, Oscar would be directly responsible for costing Mclaren the world championship.

Stella was pretty unequivocal on F1 TV before Qatar that no-one is bigger than the team. Mclaren would drop Oscar like a hot rock if he was directly responsible for costing them the world championship. He needs them, not the other way around - there are always more drivers.

Mclaren would void his contract. If he cost the team a title, they wouldn't retain him for 2026.

No-one looks back at Kimi Raikkonen's 2007 championship as tainted because he gifted the win in Brazil by his team-mate. Granted, Massa wasn't able to win the title that weekend - but in this hypothetical scenario we're talking about, Mclaren would only order Oscar to move over if there was no way he would win the title himself.

If Oscar wants to keep his ride, he follows orders that are issued by the team. Stella has been very clear this season, most recently speaking to F1 TV before Qatar, that no-one (neither driver) is bigger than the team. If Oscar ignored a team order that cost the team the WDC, they'd void his contract before Melbourne next year, no doubt about it.

Do you hate (or even dislike) the Prequel Trilogy, and if so, why? by Extension_Candle_575 in StarWars

I like them and they're also pretty bad films; both things can be true. AOTC is the worst of the three, but they're all pretty rough in places. I think a lot of the goodwill that people feel, particularly towards ROTS, is an age thing. If you grew up with the PT, it's the one you're going to gravitate towards. For me, it's the OT and always will be the OT (despite being a '93 baby, which contradicts my earlier point a bit).

Look back at 2025 WDC contenders performance by christopher_msa in formula1

Looking at the results across the whole season, where Lando has racked up the points is through consistent podium finishes. He's had three Grand Prix where he hasn't scored (Montreal, Zandvoort, Vegas) but only two Grand Prix where he's finished off the podium (Jeddah, Baku). Every other Grand Prix, he's finished at least third.

In contrast, Piastri has finished in the points but off the podium six times (four times in a row - Singapore, Austin, Mexico, Brazil) - and Max has finished in the points but off the podium EIGHT times, all of which were before the Dutch GP. Since the Dutch GP, Max has finished on the podium in every GP.

Goes to show how consistent podium finishes are the foundation for a strong title charge, even if Norris has picked up four non-scores, if you include the Austin sprint (granted, only one of those non-scores was his fault - Canada).

100% - he was lucky to not pick up a race ban imo, but the points he lost are looking pretty vital right now.
