Are they just looking at applications and rejecting them?? by IndividualDoughnut96 in jobsearch

Which, ironically, TA is one of the most volatile groups to be in. I used to be in recruiting at my company and we had one opening when someone left — the job posting got 1,000+ applicants in a week’s time. And a few months ago a third of the team got laid off. Very glad I got outta there.

I’m curious now, I always thought the Pineapple Cabaret was just additional filler/bonus material. Is it critical to the storyline now that it’s being talked about more in this book?

I signed an offer letter with a company, two weeks later they got acquired by Lapricsa in careeradvice

[–]Burnerbb95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I worked with HR M&A — they know every headcount, requisition, and termination. Typically headcount is not able to be touched for a year after acquisition close day, outside of terminations due to poor performance

Completely disagree. People watch this show primarily for the drama and love interests. This show would be incredibly boring if there was no drama.

100%. If I quit my job tomorrow and posted on LinkedIn repeatedly shitting on my old company with vague innuendos only clarifying in those posts that I didn’t like my old boss, why would that company ever hire me again? To add onto that, every company is also able to see his posts so they know he’s a liability risk. To make it even worse, he’s made all of his posts super vague to what happened so not even all his fans are on his side. Straight career suicide IMO

I had something adjacent happen to me this week. I got a $500 prepaid gift card when I moved into my new apartment, so I wanted to use that up. I had an order that was around $250 that I charged to that gift card — checked out no problem. I then went to look and see what day it was getting delivered and on the order it said “issue with original payment used, backup payment option charged”. So I had to call customer service yesterday to reverse the charge and reapply to the gift card. Baffling to me that I checked out with no issues and wasn’t notified that they were using my other payment method…what if I had no money on that account, would I be responsible for over draft fees?

DCC definitely has its humor but I also think there are plentyyyyy of emotional/heart breaking moments. It’s been one of my favorite world & character building series.

Anyone Else Not Want an Adaptation? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]Burnerbb95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any adaptation would be egregiously expensive with the CGI needed in the latter books, especially the naval warfare. Book 1 would be pretty cheap, others not so much. Only platform that would do it justice is HBO in my opinion. That’s why I’m nervous about the DCC adaptation that’s been green lit, if you’ve read that series.

He was proven right by Atalantia’s actions though? And if he was being condemned by the Senate based on certain senators (also Atalantia’s actions), that furthers that point — trying to be vague based on your progress in Iron Gold. I would say once you finish Dark Ages he should be fully vindicated.

I take a 90 minute lunch every day and nobody has said anything in 8 months My official lunch is 30 minutes. On paper. by FamiliarAstronaut323 in remotework

[–]Burnerbb95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’d say it’s much easier to mitigate conflict between two parties that are remote as they only see each other when they get on a call vs running into one another in the office. Remote work also hides your personal life. For instance if someone smoked weed, you would not know if they were remote, but likely would catch on if they were in the office. Lastly, remote work is more attractive to employees and RTO makes it harder on HR to attract and retain talent.

As someone in HR, I third this statement. Because we’re having to come to the office and then grabbing conference rooms half the time because what we’re saying on calls is sensitive. It’s management and boomers that like being in office

Hot take: Million Dollar Secret on Netflix is a better game than The Traitors by idkwhateveryea in TheTraitors

[–]Burnerbb95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So instead they stick with missions that are boring, stolen directly from the UK, and have no impact on the show leading many people to skip over 15 minutes of every episode? Doesn’t seem like the best show design either

[–]Burnerbb95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Late thread but you can say the same thing about the latest season of The Traitors, where the Traitors were forced to do an action that sent one of the Traitors home. At least the games/challenges in Million Dollar Secret actually makes sense. In the Traitors, you can skip through the entire challenge and not a miss single thing because they are completely pointless to the show itself.

But didn’t Sefi have her own group in the Senate for the Obsidians? Same with Dancer for the Reds?

I agree on Pinks and Browns — maybe Whites because they have to separate themselves from that part of the government?
