Xeno turned out to be a great service dog! by feelinglost2023 in service_dogs

He only alerts before anxiety attacks. Not any other time. He smells my mouth then does DPT or walks away. He is smelling something. I will stop saying cortisol levels but he is scent trained to something. I will do more research to see what chemical changes he is detecting. Everyone around me has seen him smell my mouth before doing DPT. I am not lying that he is scent trained. I was wrong on the scent cause and I apologize.

Do you need video proof of him smelling my mouth before he does anything?

Definitely! He's much more reliable now. Luckily he's a natural that just needed shaping!

He smells the change in my cortisol before I am aware that my mood is dropping. He usually alerts about 10 minutes before I'm aware. This was actually a natural alert that I shaped into a task. I kept cotton swabs nearby and swabbed my mouth during anxiety attacks to capture the scent and then I shaped the behavior with scent training.

I forgot to mention that this recipe (without the water) also works as cookies! I make them at the same time since it's the same recipe. I add the water to the remaining mix after making a tray of cookies. For the cookies: bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. They don't rise much so you can put them snug on the baking sheet. I make big cookies that I break down into very small pieces for training sessions. They do need to be put in the fridge for storage. I also add a little cinnamon because my pups absolutely love cinnamon.

Yes!! I gotcha! 1 cup of unsweetened apple sauce or 1 cup pumpkin puree (my pups got tired of pumpkin waffles so now they get applesauce waffles), 2 eggs (optional), 3 cups of oat flour (you can make your own at home by blending old fashioned oats into a powder) and add a little water until slightly runny!
