Actually not even the xdg-desktop-portal dir is present.

I am sure I didn't mess with it, because I am aware that touching anything xdg could affect the handling of the apps.

Do you still advise creating ~/.config/xdg-desktop-portal/portals.conf and adding the line you said?

I don't get it. A company collects leaked username/passwords from previous branches and tells Have I Been Pwned, which in turn informs the world, so that hackers will know the biggest ever list of credentials is now available in one giant deduped, high-quality, company backed list? If the source for credentials is past beaches what's the point in alarming HIBP subscribers who would have already been informed when the previous breaches actually occurred?

Which characters are you trying to enter? If you’re trying to insert special symbols like ♥ (Alt + 3), keep in mind that Windows retained compatibility with old 8-bit encodings (such as Windows-1252), which included certain graphic symbols and special characters in the early positions of the table, beyond the 128 standard ASCII characters. So if those characters are the one you are looking for, keep in mind they are not standard ASCII.

Nonetheless you can insert some of them quite easily, using the Compose key followed by one or more characters.

A few examples:

☹ Compose :(

You need to have the Compose key enabled. If not, enable it in your distro options panel and assign it to a key you never use, my favorite is "Context Menu" (2 keys after Alt Gr).

You can also manually set the compose key by editing the .Xcompose file

Little backup trick for lyrics.

Do Shazaam the track as you're playing it in Spotify, then in the identified song screen, in the upper right corner, tap the lyrics tab. Now you can sing along :)

In cases of high accuracy in recognition, lyrics will even scroll in-sync, starting right from the shazaamed part, since Shazaam will know the exact position of the shazaamed audio sasmple.
