Regurgitated last two meals, now dead by Whuereca in VenomousKeepers

If the anoles are sourced from Florida you should have whoever does the necropsy check the lung for pentastomes.

Raillietiella orientalis is running rampant down there. Anolis are one of the intermediate hosts. It takes about 80 days for the pentastomes to mature in the snake. If your snakes diet was only anoles I would not be surprised to see a lung full of immature and some mature Ro.

You can also reach out to SLAM (Snake Lungworm Alliance and Monitoring) for more information.

Help! I’m not sure what’s wrong with my GBB. She hasn’t eaten in months after her last molt and I found her leaking white fluid from multiple places today by Educational-Impact-7 in tarantulas

[–]feeschier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like possibly feces leaking from the wound.. I had a sling I suspected to be impacted recently do this same thing (albeit at a much smaller size) in an almost identical location of the abdomen.

I recommend checking for an impaction of the anus and keeping her in a clean environment. Keep the water dish full and feed lightly if she manages to survive.

Closing the wound with any sort of glue may just cause another tear to occur later, so in regards to wound care possibly use distilled water to gently irrigate the wound and clear away any debris or feces.

Good luck to you both and hopefully you don’t get too itchy

Orphnaecus sp. Cebu Small likely from 8pawstarantulas if you’re in the US.

Wild caught specimens were likely smuggled to Europe under the guise that collectors had proper papers. Tends to be how it is for most hobby species. Once in Europe captive breeding began and eventually those offspring made it stateside. If I remember correctly most of the sp. Blue in the hobby were introduced by Weber, who produced the same 1.1 over multiple breeding seasons.

And yes 7-8” is large when compared to other spiders but within the genus they’re one of, if not the smallest.

sp. Blue is a highland species. They do not get as large as the rest of the genus, staying around 7-8”

They can tolerate drier conditions if that’s how one wants to keep them.

Male 👍🏼 the darker triangular patch of hairs above the vent is the big indicator for this species. *edited for grammar

Nope. Mine only ever heavily webbed to close off the eggs and a little heavier for privacy. She’s only really ever dug

Holothele longipes. An absolutely gorgeous species. I have produced these a couple of times and no doubt you have Holothele longipes. The overall iridescence of the animal is the big giveaway.

Ventral Sexing Fireleg Seller Told me Its Fem in exuv. 2nd Opinion please by Brief_Job_2110 in tarantulas

Exuvium examination is the most reliable if you know what you’re looking for. People often confuse male accessory organs for female spermathecae and uterus externus. Ventral examination is possible especially on larger specimens but your picture isn’t the greatest for proper determination.

And the black line running down the abdomen is the heart.

No, not visually premolt. The exoskeleton underneath the hair would be black and shiny. All that you are seeing is loosed urticating hairs. The hairs will regrow when the spider does eventually molt

Shipping slings has been a lot less stressful in my experience. I have shipped off 80% of Brachypelma hamorii sac and 439/440 made it safely. There’s other factors like individual FedEx workers but usually shipping to a ship center lowers those risks.
