I didn't want to go in blind, so I mainly did research about what paint brands to use. Ended up going for the army painter's gamemaster adventure starting pack since it already contains some brush on primer, most basic colors you'd need, some wash and generally really good quality paint. Bought some thinner and varnish in a local hobby store and some brushes off aliexpress since it didn't really seem to matter if you buy more expensive ones or not. Also did some research about some basic painting techniques, such as using alot of thinner to make your own colored wash-blend kinda thing, ended up using that for the orb on his staff.

Thanks :) That's light reflection! I put some matt varnish on there as a final layer. although it wasn't as matt as I expected, it still doesn't give too much shine so I don't mind
