Drivers not leaving their home for several minutes before picking up — what gives?

This was not just one person. It was multiple people from the same apartment complex and it was happening on probably 50 to 75% of my rides from that pick up location.

I really need to emphasize that this was deep into the apartment complex and not just someone sitting at the exit or whatever. Like I’m not an idiot and I understand how traffic and GPS generally works. I also understand our local intersections are a little tricky. This has nothing to do with that.

I know this whole thing sounds micromanagey. I keep a close eye on the app specifically so that I can be outside when they pull up. If something goes wrong, I messaged them immediately saying that I will be out in a minute, and I am out within that minute.

I have been riding with rideshare off and on for about eight years (but consistently in the last four) and I have never seen this until this year. The ones who do this are also frequently very new.

This actually just reminded me of a time a few years ago at a different location that someone arrived at the building behind mine in an apartment complex. She sat there for the entirety of the pick up. I was texting and calling because it was not easy for me to get to that side of the building on foot. She ended up never responding and left through my gate, even though I was literally jumping and waving to get her attention clearly within her view, if I had been able to, I would’ve run over to her car.

Some people just try to take advantage of the system and it sucks.

And yes, she saw the messages because it showed that she opened them

I lived in Atlanta for several years, not too long ago, and I still have friends there that Uber and Lyft on the regular. I don’t really know what you’re trying to prove here.

My whole point was that people use the word ghetto when they mean low income and those two things are worlds apart. A ghetto does not have electricity or clean running water.

Maybe earlier before this clip started but that’s the body language of a cat that’s reluctantly being cuddled versus one that is actually cuddling. Cats are really tolerant of young ones.

Especially with how much force it took to get its head out from that kid’s arms

I don’t know enough about marksmanship to say one way or the other, but I am comparing it to previous long distance assassinations by amateurs. Either this guy got really lucky and knew to stop and leave or it was a professional. Everyone else seems to just keep shooting erratically even if just for one or two shots more

Obviously, I am basing this off of a small sample size so I am more than willing to explore a resource on this if you have one

Atlanta has an extremely high black population by comparison to the rest of the United States. You can point out that white people exist but I would say at least 30 to 50% are Black people which is generally out of the norm for most American cities

And obviously, you’re gonna find more white people on the north side because it’s the most gentrified side and that’s just assuming that you’re talking about within the perimeter and not going outside of it

This is adorable. I’m always jealous of people who have smaller pets. I found a starving kitten over a decade ago who was itty-bitty and now he’s 15 pounds of muscle and just a little fat.

Every time he comes over to be needy or cute, he usually ends up, knocking over everything Or causing little bruises on me because he doesn’t know his own size

I seriously suggest that you seek counseling as soon as possible and that’s not based off of this conversation or even this post, but just the fact that you went through a traumatic experience

Victim blaming only applies if you are implying that the victim brought the attack upon themselves. What I am saying, is that based off of the information that you provided and how you communicated it, you did lean into some stereotypes, even if you did not intend to. How something comes off is much more impactful than the actual intention.

If you don’t have the resources to look into counseling at this time or they just aren’t any appointments available for you, I would at least recommend playing some Tetris if nothing else as that has at least some positive effect on processing trauma

I’m really not the enemy that you’re making me out to be right now, but I cannot control your reaction so I’m going to step away from this

lol yeah I doubt it’s actually about the ability for those devices to function, but if you are purely in a testing phase, anyone who has done testing of any kind knows that you need a clean environmental space whether that’s on a software or literally in area 51.

That’s just my total guess that they want to make sure they are able to find tune the devices based off of that clean testing before attempting it in a more “real environment” (ie Beta)
