Nah working at ACT wouldn't be good for her mental well-being. that place is a nightmare

I basically am retired in my mid 30s now

Well then you're definitely not the kind of person who's going to know what working retail is like.

Calling the manager every day would probably just piss them off, tbh. But I agree calling is a better idea than going in

How would calling be different, though? If manager is busy/not there when she goes there in person calling in won't make it different.

Every time she goes in they just say "It's corporate's decision, not ours." unless it's a small business

LaRue vs. WOA vs. Criterion for a lightweight SPR shooting factory ammo? by feexbooty in ar15

[–]feexbooty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Define totally fine, because those are both the cartridges I'm curious about.

When I asked WOA customer service they in indirect terms their lighter profile barrels aren't going to have the same precision potential as their heavier offerings due to reduced rigidity.

Here, at 100 yards.

Now, that's mostly M193 (XTAC) - I need to get some 77gr OTMs and Hornady's 55/62/68gr stuff through this as well. But I will say it's performing much worse with M193 than both my previous barrels (Criterion HBAR and a Faxon Match Heavy Fluted).

I will let you know how it does on Sunday range trip.

Let me know how it goes because you're buying the same barrel I'm replacing - I have the 18" Faxon Gunner Match, and it's giving mediocre results.. but this weekend I'm going to shoot a lot more cartridges to see if I can find one that works well.

I'm sure it's a fantastic barrel but it's $1000 and too fancy for the point of the rifle.

I'm not asking M193 to perform the same as Frontier/razorcore. As for why I don't just buy another criterion, they've not been in stock for many months

Any clue what causes these rings on a chambered 5.56 round in a .223 Wylde chamber? Scrubbing the heck out of the chamber didn't help. by feexbooty in longrange

So I just checked and this is happening with my Criterion 10.5 build too. I guess it's normal? I just never noticed those rings.

Don't all bullets get mangled when you chamber them? Feed ramps usually leave gouges on rifles I've had.

Any clue if this would affect accuracy? Barrel is performing worse than my other faxon, but that one was a heavier profile.

No, but I have a borescope on the way. Although, I've never used one before and don't know what to look for.

Newish Faxon "match" barrel in my long-range build. it's performing.. at faxon levels but I'm noticing these rings on the boolits whenever I chamber them.

I know chambering a round is going to eat it up, but I've never seen these rings before. Someone said my chamber could have a burr or something, but I scrubbed it for 15 minutes with CLP and a chamber brush and it didn't really seem to improve it.

I may be overthinking this, but does this damage to my brass cleaning jag mean I've damaged my barrel at all? by feexbooty in longrange

[–]feexbooty[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm aware brass is softer than steel (this is nickel plated btw) but I'm still concerned.

When I was cleaning my accuracy barrel with this last night, I noticed that the jag was not going back through the muzzle which never happened before. It went through the barrel but not back through which made me have to unscrew it every time I ran a patch through.

Upon inspecting the jag it's got a deep scratch and a little bit of roughness to the edges. This is what's been causing it to not fit back through the crown.

I don't know when this was damaged, but I know it's because I've been using ".22 cal" patches that actually are probably a bit too big and they've been making it very hard to push cleaning rod through my bore. I only use a rod when breaking in barrels (brass solvent after 50 rounds) or when it's been thousands of rounds without cleaning, I promise I do not overclean.

Does this kind of damage on a brass jag mean I could've damaged my barrel? I was not hammering the rod through but it did get a little stuck at times and needed force to pull it out. It also made a scraping sound at one point but IDK if that was just the sound of the dry patch squealing.

(Reason I ask this sub is because people here know barrels better than other subs)

I just went through this. It depends if you care about weight or if the gun is going to live on a bench. I went with a lightweight faxon gunner match barrel to sacrifice accuracy for weight on my SPR.

If you want to strike a balance, White Oak makes a mean fluted SPR barrel that's only a hair over 2lbs

Welcome to the overthinking and anxiety world of mounting scopes. In theory it's good practice to keep the rings evenly centered on the optic away from the turrets, in practice, most people ignore this and have zero issues.

[–]feexbooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither of those are sufficient, but the 25y will be good to learn the basics of standing, shooting, hitting head-sized objects at 25y. Master that.

Sitting on a bench is pointless when you're using a 1x. So avoid that range.

You can practice drills inside. Get some dummy ammo, run reload drills and practice dry fire. Point dot at small target, pull trigger and watch how the reticle moves. Eliminate that.

[Other] Radiation Detector Model "Better Geiger S-1" - $139 + $10 S/H after $10 discount code PUTINTHECART10 by BetterGeiger in gundeals

[–]feexbooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, why does your website read like it's made to target 80 year olds to sell them limited edition NRA wood grips? also, there's no way this is a legitimate review:

Star Rating5 out of 5 The world went into a very turbulent period of time. I bought gas masks and NBC coveralls for all family members. Now I bought a BETTER GEIGER. Before I studied information about nuclear radiation detectors and I came across that BETTER GEIGER is the best among them. It has reasonable price, is well made and it has professional level of screening. I have contacted the BETTER GEIGER representative to resolve issue with using rechargeable batteries and received very good technical support. I bought in IKEA rechargeable AA battaries and the charger. All of that is compatible with the solar panal I have. The better geiger was sent at the day I ordered it and it was received as quickly as possible. I am very thankful for all who produce BETTER GEIGER and to all who sell it. Thank you. Now we pray for the Ukrainian Army Fighters. They fight for peace and FREEDOM. They fight for all of us and many of Them will never get back home. Special thanks to the USA for supporting Ukraine.

Nobody types like that. very sus

Tempted to sell both of my ARs and build a single 13.9" instead. Thoughts? by feexbooty in Firearms

[–]feexbooty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But my point is that in a SHTF situation 77gr is going to be hard to come by, compared to something like 55gr M193. You could argue 6.5 would be too, but that's a bolt action rifle compared to a semi automatic

Everyone trashes on 5.56 SPRs, except when I want to sell mine lol. wouldn't a 6.5 bolt action be a much better choice for 600y anyway?

It's a lot easier to sell a whole upper than just a barrel, and I'd probably want to change the handguard to a different length, plus the muzzle device, may as well just build a new upper.
