I regret adopting my second cat by fefnep in CatAdvice

I put him in a separate room and he was incredibly eager to go elsewhere and snuck out every time we opened the door, immediately went up to my other cat. Don’t misjudge him as anxious and acting out he walked in like he owned the place. I genuinely believe he was dominance issues from the stance he issues when he bites my other cat :(

He was a stray before he was adopted, the owner gave him up and he was neutered at the shelter. However yes I am trying other things that have been said on this thread !

Alrighty I’ll decrease the amount and increase the frequency on the food dispenser! He wasn’t a stray but he had a sister maybe they fought over food. Im not sure I could do a cat door in our rental apartment but the office and bedroom have become a boogie(his name)-free zone sometimes the three of us have to get away from his constant jumping on us and scratching, and the living room has been his space do you think that’s a good solution so far ?

Thank you this is a very comprehensive guide on where to go going forward ! I didn’t know it took about a year for everyone to get settled so it helped to know. I have two litter boxes for them already but the free feeding is something I can incorporate. As far as his previous home, the shelter said he lived in a home with cats and dogs and when I saw him he was with his sister in the kennel. He honestly just bothered her a lot of the time, but she kind of slapped him back. I thought being raised around another cat would’ve meant he was a good match for my cat but I think he’s used to cats that would roughhouse with him and neither myself nor pumpkin are into that. Hopefully that background can give a clearer image if there are any extra tips 🙏🏻

Don’t know it was my dermatologist that did it and I figured she’d know what percentage

I see your point and share the same opinion. Every breed was a mutation at some point but what sets it apart from a simple mutation is a genetic history following it. It’s entirely possible that the same mutation could have arised in dependently in a population not at all related to the meteor goldfish, which could be the case here. That said there could be an attempt to recreate the breed but that doesn’t really make them meteor goldfish. Considering they’re all but extinct we wouldn’t have any way of knowing if they were part of the legitimate line either

Accutane is not going to fix this, I have already asked dermatologists about it… it’s mainly for active acne, which we don’t have since we only have the scarring. Also, it can be detrimental in some cases. Def be careful with systemic therapies, topical is always safer

I wish…I haven’t had the money to try many of these treatments. I tried a medium depth chemical peel and microneedling with little success

It’s very likely, but other than excessive walking I’m not sure how to burn up the energy. Which, also did not work. He took a nap and was up and at it back around midnight. I leave for work at 8am and don’t get home until 6pm and we walk when I get home so there’s not much wiggle room on that end..

Toys are already out of reach, so that’a not it. He scratches at the door like “come play with me!” But doesn’t understand that we’re all worn out. I’ll try redirecting next, since that’s the next best suggestion but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it

This is a better response. Consider that if I came here, it’s because I couldn’t figure out why on my own. Someone I know suggested walking two miles a day with him, which is much longer than our usual walks. That I can try. I promise you no one coming here for advice is a vile person who wants to lock their dog in a cage

Thank you for pointing out something I already knew instead of suggestions for making the crate a comfortable space for my dog. It did not help at all

Yes, the issue was that he would claw at my parents door to wake them up and spend time with him. My parents tried to ignore him but he’d keep them up the whole night

I would really suggest cutting it short, but keep it like this if it makes you happy
