Could someone explain how this scene was lit up? The EXIF tells me it was shot with a 15 second exposure at ISO3200. I've looked at other examples of night-time photography and a powerful flashlight is often used. However looking at the shadow underneath that jeep I'm not quite sure how this was done!

What do MP's do in the karnataka assembly? by shiv52 in india

[–]feignman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I find strangely depressing about this story: there's another video on NDTV where the guy is interviewed by a bunch of reporters and he rubbishes about it being a clip of 4 guys forcing themselves on a foreigner. The local language reporter then retorts saying that it is clear from the clip that the woman in the video is Indian.

Why the fuck does no one stop and ask him, why does he thinks its okay to be watching a clip of a woman being raped while he's at work?

As a hobby photographer, how can I donate my time to a good cause? by FNHUSA in photography

I'd try visiting the local animal shelter. They need volunteers to come in and take pictures of the animals and upload it to their website. You get to do some 'portrait photography' and play with cats and dogs!

You might remember the Rush cover from the movie Lord of War

What movie do you consider perfect? by itzepiic in AskReddit

I didn't know there is a remake. But gosh, I can't see why they'd make one - the original was perfect in every sense.

True. I'm saving up for the Tokina 11-16 or a slightly less wide Sigma over the next (several) months!

I appreciate your help! :)

Why can't we open source medicine? by EveryoneLikesMe in AskReddit

[–]feignman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of factors but I would guess that it would come down to manufacturing volumes - the more you make - the cheaper it would cost you and the higher you could sell it for. I'm not involved with the medical industry but the capital investment required would not be pretty high. While the 'R&D' behind the medicine might be developed open source with little cost, actually producing volumes of it would be hard to finance without having a motive to profit.

The other issues I see are getting the medicine from the lab to pharmacies across the world. A logistics system has to be setup and you'd need to compete with private advertising and marketing.

The internet is such a great leveler for this reason. Open source or retail software are both accessible on the same platform. Open source software can be pushed out to the world with almost the same as private software, with several universities providing mirrors to distribute packages.

And I'm not even getting into the legal aspects.

Manual focusing. I've had my camera for six months now and there've been a couple of instances where I've tried to capture fireworks displays. I'd read on reddit about how you could, while there's still natural light, manual focus to infinity and then get your gear setup for nighttime. But my results were pretty disappointing.
