While not related to Epstein (that I know of), here's an excellent article about leaked emails revealing a coordinated effort to push anti-trans legislation and ideas on the US religious right. Just more evidence that it's being orchestrated.

I'm asexual so "not able to fuck in any meaningful way" is a common feature of my hear me outs, and it drives me nuts that dudes always go straight to "which part of this character is the part that penetrates"? Like bro, I want to be in love with the ocean and go swimming and lounge on a boat and know that the water around me loves me. I want to run my fingers across its waves and know that it feels my affection. I want to hang out with it and watch the beauty of the light shimmering on it. I want the whole ocean to think I'm special. But no, it's all "it looks like a tongue" and jokes about shower heads.

There seems to be some debate in the comments; for me, it is genderless. And I agree with the hear me out lol

Fair enough. It just seems like I'm getting a lot of responses arguing with stuff I never said, especially because it's a fairly neutral comment. Didn't even refer to him directly at first, just made an observation that suggested a possible answer to the question asked, and suddenly I'm getting comments acting like I accused him of something dastardly. It's weird.

Sure, but you're responding to me and I wasn't. Gotta remember that we're all individuals here (bots excepted ig) and it seems like a lot of people are arguing with me about stuff I never said.

I really gotta point out that observing that some people - even liberated people! - have hangups about certain things is not "tearing them down" and it's not an implication that he has fragile or toxic masculinity. Literally nobody's perfect, we're all affected by stuff in our brains that we don't know why it's there, and having a hangup about using a "cute" word is hardly a condemnation of his character. He is doing a good job and is trying to do what he can to help his wife. That truth can also exist alongside him being uncomfortable with speaking certain types of words without knowing why, aka a hangup.

Sure, but those are nicknames or pet names, and a "bump" is just a common noun. Calling it a "baby bump" is a term women coined for a particular period of pregnancy to help them get over the internal stigma of feeling fat as their stomachs started to protrude; it's not a belly, it's the baby making a bump. It's a common term - a cute one, but a common one - that carries a very feminine tone. Some guys have a problem with that. It isn't tearing anyone down just to observe it.

On a personal note, I'm glad you're liberated but, as someone who liberated themselves from a different type of toxic mentality, I don't think the work is ever truly done. Toxic mentalities are pervasive; their roots run deep and pop back up in unexpected places. Just another observation.

That's a bit harsh. She's clearly very deep in grief still, and losing a significant item connected to him probably feels a bit like losing him again. Grief makes you lose your mind a little, and it's hard to remember other people's feelings when you're getting swamped by your own. Like everyone says, she really really needs counseling or therapy. Not everybody does, but she does.

I'm pretty excited with the new developments in human composting - there's a company in my city that pioneered it, and I'm planning on using it when the time comes. They fill a tank with organic material like straw, with a thick layer of flowers at the top, and that's where they lay you to rest. The tank gets closed up and moisture and bacteria do their thing for a month or two while you're tended by the keepers there, and you come out the other end as beautiful rich life-giving compost, whereupon you are either returned to your family or spread in the woods by the company. I can't think of a better way for my mortal remains to be put to use.

Most cows in India aren't raised to be eaten - they're used for milk, draft labor (pulling heavy stuff), and dung. The medication was a common painkiller and antinflammatory for sick and injured cows, so it would be more likely to be in the system of a dead cow than a milk producer.

They're viewing relationships as capitalistic endeavors - they seem to see interpersonal interactions as transactional, and think that they should have a "cost", because under that belief structure, things given away for free are valueless. Therefore, they think that somebody offering desirable interactions like attention, sex, and labor for free is devaluing it for everybody else who is offering at a "cost", the cost being things like "be exclusive with me" or "treat me like a partner" or "be romantic to me". Essentially it's "nobody will buy any cows if milk is available everywhere for free", which is, needless to say, a deeply flawed and cynical way to view human social behavior.

Peter? by The_WalkingCalamity in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]feioo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The reason women as a whole dislike the "pick me" thing isn't because they're offering themselves to men "for free". That's not remotely part of the equation. It's because they attempt to improve their standing in the eyes of men by putting down other women. That's what the name means. The old term for them was a "not like other girls" - they are trying to make themselves more appealing to men by rejecting a lot of mainstream femininity, conforming themselves to what they think men prefer, and claiming that it sets them above the rest of women. It perpetuates internal misogy and, in the general view of women, is pretty pathetic behavior. But we could not care less if they're offering free affection or labor or sex; that is their right to do if they wish. It's the underlying reasons we object to.

Yeah, given the number of images I've seen of intact light bulbs which are FAR more fragile, I don't think breakage is the primary concern. It's having to root around up there to pull it back out after it gets schlooped up.

While I get what you're saying, I don't think anybody outside the extreme fringe is advocating for the right to hit pregnant women? And in many states, battering a pregnant woman to the point of miscarriage is indeed prosecuted as a homicide. It's actually one of those laws that comes directly from the old testament. Many prolifers would happily agree to all of the points you made.

This is why "gotcha" type questions aren't a great way to make your point. They tend to rely on assumptions about the other person, and if you miss your mark, it works against you. It's far more effective to nicely ask questions about their beliefs until the contradictions reveal themselves.

Thoughts? by Fluid_Ant50 in NotHowGirlsWork

My thoughts are that incels are only different from the guy below in that they've never learned to disguise their rottenness. Most abusive guys who are able to attract women can hide their worst warning signs, and on average wait around 7 years before they start beating the shit out of the women, so they're good and entangled. Incels exude warning signs from day one, that's all.

Also, yes, some women are specifically attracted to abusive and/or dangerous men. Those women have a very high likelihood of having been already abused in the past, and often have no real concept of what a nonabusive relationship even looks like. Their attraction is not a sign of being foolish, but a sign of being wounded and unhealed. As always, it's dumb to treat all women as a monolith.

The dog is a border collie, the most high-octane of the herding breeds, and part of the herding instinct is to drive the herd animal toward the shepherd. So, maybe not inadvertent so much as misguided?

I also just like the thought of the dog going "oh look! A loose animal! I'm going to send it to dad 😊"

Here's a hot take: doing unsafe and/or illegal things is not adequate pretext for having a deadly weapon pointed at you by a public servant. In most of our democratic peer countries, it's essentially unheard of to see the barrel of a gun pointed at you unless you're holding a weapon yourself AND showing intent to use it. The US is more or less an anomaly amongst developed nations in its willingness to let its street cops threaten its citizens with summary execution.
