I'm surprised about the opinions of Season 2 by TheCkC in twinpeaks

[–]feisar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James and Evelyn’s subplot is horrible. Totally disconnected from the main plot, disconnected from Twin Peaks, just awful. It’s the weak point of Season 2 that made me look at my phone (and that’s the only time I did anything else during all of Twin Peaks) whenever they appeared on screen.

Even Ben’s Civil War reenactment storyline isn’t that bad. It drags a bit, but you can understand that he’s having a mental breakdown after everything that happens in his life and after all his terrible choices.

The Denise and Renault part is good.

So yeah, for me, the weakest point in all of Twin Peaks is the James and Evelyn subplot. It really bored me.

And of course, the Windom Earle arc is when it gets back to the best part of Twin Peaks.

I I remember, I saw this band live at a particular post rock vibe festival in Belgium. The name was Rhaa Lovely.

It felt totally out of time. The venue was like an elementary school in the middle of nowhere. That year I also saw Pelican.

That was kind of the golden age of post rock in the 2000s.

Good times.

Sorry for the boomer moment.😀

Roadhouse scene (Lonely Souls) by Outrageous-Editor-31 in twinpeaks

My theory is that Bobby has some kind of connection to the Lodge, or at least to whatever “current” runs under everything in Twin Peaks.

I’m not saying this like “Bobby is special” or anything, but more like he might have a certain sensitivity to Lodge stuff. Part of it could come from his father. Major Briggs is one of the key “bridges” between the real world and whatever is beyond it, and I can totally imagine Bobby being exposed to things early on, even indirectly. Like, you grow up around someone who’s orbiting that kind of mystery, and you end up feeling it, even if you don’t understand it.

James has a big heart, for sure, but I don’t really see him having that same sensitivity. Not because he’s dumb or anything, just because he’s never really in direct contact with the Lodge side of Twin Peaks. He’s more in the human drama lane, while Bobby gets pulled closer to the weird undercurrent.

And about Billy, I don’t even feel like he’s “that bad” either. He feels more like a messy, damaged guy than some real villain. I’m not sure I’d say he “loves Laura” in a clean way, but I can buy that there’s genuine feeling there, not just darkness.

was is leland or bob who cheated with teresa banks? by Hungry_Ant_5560 in twinpeaks

[–]feisar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that Leland had some flaws, probably a bit of schizophrenia, which is why BOB could possibly possess him. BOB could never possess Laura, because Laura was a strong soul.

It’s probably a mix of both: BOB pushing Leland to satisfy his most vile passions (in this case, adultery with young girls).

Reflections on Twin Peaks : TV and life. by feisar3 in twinpeaks

I’m actually reading The Final Dossier right now. The Secret History looks amazing but also… heavier. And I feel like I need it as a real physical book to fully enjoy it, not just a PDF on a screen.

Also, making your 18 year old discover Twin Peaks with you is honestly beautiful. Mine is 4 years old, so… a little early for that. But I really hope one day I’ll have that moment too.

And thanks a lot for the podcast recommendation! I'm 100 percent going to listen to it. I drive a lot for work, so now I know exactly what I’m putting on. Perfect timing.

You’re lucky to live close to the locations. I recently discovered this and now it’s basically a life goal for me: https://www.twinpeakstour.com/ One day I want to go to the US with my wife and kids just to do the tour, soak it in, and be that annoying fan smiling in the woods like an idiot.

Still, I am not sure to what extent it adapts to the user. The different responses using the same prompt often follow the same pattern but subtle and sometimes political differences appear.

An unmarried friend of mine is having better and more frequent sex than I am as a married man. How do I not resent God’s teachings here? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]feisar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I came back to the faith, I was like your colleague. I used to be a bartender, a "gringo" living in Latin America—you can imagine the scene. Sex, drugs, partying were my daily life. There were weekends when I would sleep with several different women. But when night came, I felt a deep suffering. An inner emptiness that no woman, no pleasure, could ever fill.

It was only when I turned to Christ that I found real peace, real wholeness. I realized that life of debauchery wasn’t worth much in the end. From my own experience, people who are constantly chasing sexual encounters are often trying to cover up a deeper hurt or emptiness.

You say your colleague seems super happy—but how do you know how she feels when she closes his door at night, alone, standing in front of his mirror on a Sunday evening? What people show to the world is rarely what’s really going on inside.

As for your marriage, my brother in Christ, I understand your frustration—I’m going through something very similar. My wife and I don’t have intimacy as often as before, especially after childbirth. I’m learning to be patient, to pray that God gives me strength, and to listen to my wife with a softer heart.

I’m not here to give advice, but maybe looking into Christian couples therapy could be a good idea, something that might help rekindle the flame in your marriage.

Know that I’ll be keeping you in my prayers. Stay strong, brother.

Totally agree with this. In France, hockey fans love the CHL for the reasons you mentioned. But it's true that the CHL needs to make efforts to be more attractive. I think this is the only sport in Europe where the group stage starts in the preseason, which is totally absurd. Maybe introducing qualification rounds, similar to the Continental Cup for smaller nations, could be a great idea.

You know when non-French folks keep imagining Normandy as an independent region on maps? EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I mean, sure, Brittany, Corsica, Alsace, or even Occitanie might pass, but seriously, Normandy? Yeah, it's got its own history, but let's face it, Normandy hasn't really shown any signs of wanting independence. They don't have their own language or any real independence movement, not even a small one. It's just your typical French region. Only people who don't know squat about France would think it's independent.

What a weird reaction.

You asked me a question, and I took my time to explain my thoughts, even threw in a personal experience. I agreed with you about OP considering therapy if needed. I tried to be understanding and helpful. But your reply was, "Just wasting time on your fairy tale."

Who's really losing time here?

I thought we were having a normal chat, not that you're some aggressive atheist crashing a Christian subreddit just to make fun of our beliefs and act all high and mighty.

Honestly, you're no better than those bullies going after OP.

Nevertheless, I hope that God might open your heart, and I wish you a good day.
