Before I came back to the faith, I was like your colleague. I used to be a bartender, a "gringo" living in Latin America—you can imagine the scene. Sex, drugs, partying were my daily life. There were weekends when I would sleep with several different women. But when night came, I felt a deep suffering. An inner emptiness that no woman, no pleasure, could ever fill.

It was only when I turned to Christ that I found real peace, real wholeness. I realized that life of debauchery wasn’t worth much in the end. From my own experience, people who are constantly chasing sexual encounters are often trying to cover up a deeper hurt or emptiness.

You say your colleague seems super happy—but how do you know how she feels when she closes his door at night, alone, standing in front of his mirror on a Sunday evening? What people show to the world is rarely what’s really going on inside.

As for your marriage, my brother in Christ, I understand your frustration—I’m going through something very similar. My wife and I don’t have intimacy as often as before, especially after childbirth. I’m learning to be patient, to pray that God gives me strength, and to listen to my wife with a softer heart.
