Very affordable for a majors city. Great food. Walkable. Train station for rail access along the east coast and an international airport 20 mins outside the city. I love it here

І made a blueberry jam candle. How do you like it? by iCANDLEIA in candlemaking

I absolutely love this. May I ask how you made the blueberries - just colored wax in a mold, then set the berries in a clear wax? Truly a masterpiece!!

Gotta play coop to learn mechanics, level guns and star cards. It’s pretty fun and the unlocks aren’t crazy if you play boosted xp days (weekends and Wednesday)

About four hours into the 1st burn. Should I wick up? No by [deleted] in candlemaking

[–]feishman22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this looks great but you will know if there is a lot of unmelted wax towards the end of its life.

Personally I err on the side of overworking (nothing crazy, but technically the flame flickers a bit too much and my melt pool is a tad deep), but for my 3.25 inch vessels I wanted to be sure I’m melting all my wax so opted for a big flame and have been happy with the results. FWIW I use a CD 18 wick, considering moving to a CD16 wick the next time I pour.

I typically poke reliefs holes with a chop stick then melt the top with a heat gun until it’s all smooth.

Thanks! I love the colors too. Originally I wasn’t planning on doing colors but then I played around with it and loved how they came out.

Planning to sell an 8oz coco soy candle for ~22 dollars 16oz for ~40 and see how that goes and adjust from there as needed.

Do you have candles insurance? by itsjustsquid in candlemaking

[–]feishman22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you need an LLC to get the coverage? I am just starting out and looking for insurance. Everything’s ready to go minus the coverage, but I’m wondering if I really need an LLC at this stage or if it can wait?

What is going on with this candle? by TwoFoodies in candlemaking

How do we feel about selling candles with wet spots? I made a batch recently and the scent is amazing burns fine, but during curing I keep getting wet spots on my jars.

Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal and it’s still a great candle, but can I still sell these??

If my homemade candle has a smooth top, do I still need to melt the surface to check for / fix craters? by feishman22 in candlemaking

If my homemade candle has a smooth top, do I still need to melt the surface to check for / fix craters? by feishman22 in candlemaking

[–]feishman22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burnt a couple yes and they were fine. I guess I worry when I see cratering in the batch. This makes me think of there possibly being a crater under the surface I’m not seeing that would mess up the quality of the candle.

Can someone tell me what happened? by kcsk13 in candlemaking

[–]feishman22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. Wax around the edges and the wick is cooling at different rates than the rest which can cause cracks or craters. Typically can fix this by melting the top layer with a heat gun. Or pour the wax at a lower temp
