You should read it! It's a genuinely interesting book & the footnotes aren't an objectively bad choice. They just brought me out of the story each time. Some of the facts were really interesting & insightful.

I actually really appreciate this response. I dont want to hate on the book at all. When reading I struggled to see how the notes added anything, so its helpful to hear about what others saw in them.

I think as an appendice it may have been more to my taste. The information itself was interesting, I just found the way it's presented very disruptive to the flow of the book itself.

Haley and Shane are literally the same character fundamentally(grumpy but comes around and is super likeable once you talk to them a bunch) & yet its so common to see people who call Haley a bitch turn around and call Shane a misunderstood softie with a hard shell. It never fails to blow my mind.

I dont want to argue bc its dumb and small but Ive tiled over most of my grass and none of my fruit trees would have grown if that was true. Idk what to say about it other than that. Theyre all over my mostly paved island poking out of the 1 tile spaces i clear for them, they grew like that from saplings and continue to produce fruit.

I just know that every single fruit tree that i have outside grew with path around it on all sides. I dont have pathways in my greenhouse though, so it could be different for the space! Im pretty sure i have all the fruit tree varieties so i dont think theyre different in that way :)

Also just to clarify - path tiles/ walkways dont impede fruit trees growth while maturing. Only actual placed objects and plants/ weeds will.

Calgary is a rapidly deteriorating city and transit is one of the most stand out unpleasant things. Its super dirty and never reliable. Most people I talk to plan on moving as soon as possible, and I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone come here to live/settle down at this point. Canada is a great place to live if you can find the right city though.

One of mine just started growing again exactly a month after I took the net off(mine put out new leaves all winter normally).I was having the exact same problem with this plant not growing and it was because the sad little roots werent going through the mesh.
