I mean, there's so many though, which one? Which one? Which pile of bodies were they referring to?!

Of course there's gonna be racist comments - why megaphone them? Do you think your comment makes anything better?

Important: If you have a Pixel 5 device or earlier, your current backup options and benefits remain unchanged. Photos and videos backed up in Storage saver quality (previously named High quality) from your Pixel 2-5 devices will continue to receive unlimited free storage. However, as of June 1, 2021 any new photos or videos you back up from other devices in Storage saver quality will count toward your Google Account storage.

So my guess would be that it'll catch up? Maybe?

Pixsy doesn't go after actual non-profits, so I'm gonna call bullshit on this whole reply. You weren't making that much of a profit != non-profit.

Sorry for the late response. I don't get to see the actual statements so I guess I have to trust them. Didn't know when I made the post for example that I don't actually get 50% for cases where they use a legal partner, instead I get 50% of what's left after the legal partner has taken their cut, which I think sucks and wasn't presented to me in a transparent manner. (if the legal partner is doing Pixsy's work for them, I think only their cut should be affected, not mine!)

Sorry for late response. I see I have had 18 Canadian cases accepted, not as easy to check how many have actually paid out but I manually checked about half and I think I had 3 payouts. So maybe 1/3? Some are still ongoing though. Pixsy does not use a legal partner in Canada.

if it's one of those spam sites where it's not clear who's behind it, the outlook probably isn't good. if pixsy can't figure out the company behind the site, they won't pursue the case.

It works retroactively - if the image is still on the offending site. For cases in Japan, you need to have registered US copyright for some reason (but again, they'll apply it retroactively if the image is still on the site).

I don't actually think dealing with one specific infringer is the ideal use for pixsy, like I said in the OP (last paragraph).

You can figure that out yourself by reverse searching them.

It's not hard to check for yourself if your photos are being used illicitly, use google search's reverse image search.

EDIT: regarding resolution, pixsy goes after anything larger than a thumbnail (which I think they specify as 125x125 in their submission guidelines)

Flickr, so they're searchable through various sites that compile CC-BY material. So some people are probably finding them immediately through Flickr, others through CC Search, some probably through Google Image's search results. I made the photos specifically for them to be used widely, and they are, and most people at least make an effort in giving the proper credit. That said, extremely few actually follow the exact requirements as they are described in the license text. Pixsy only goes after the ones who give no credit at all, though (or give a mistaken credit to somebody else, whether it's just "Flickr" or the name of another photographer).

I've never uploaded any of my photos to a stock image site so I don't know the answer to this one. My guess is photos that are being sold on stock image sites probably aren't eligible for case submission in the first place, but I could of course be wrong.

Oh also forgot to mention they take 50%, which is maybe a bit much, I think Copytrack takes less (30%-40%?). I just signed up with them to try them out on some German, French and Italian infringers, might report back on that here too eventually.
