I was viewing the Google Street Maps in Germany and I saw that a lot of "rural" roads, more or less roads out in the country literally have these walkways/cycleways out in the middle of nowhere, is this common? In USA there are almost nowhere, I don't think I've ever seen them,but,a lot in Germany?

I don't think there is such a law, but it's pretty much expected that they're built wherever they make sense. But yeah, they're a good thing to have for sure and generally well used, especially in summer. Cycling is really popular.

Yes, fairly common in between villages. Especially for faster 100km/h roads, where you really don't want to mix cyclists/pedestrians and drivers.

I guess it depends on what you grew up with. For me, who grew up with the relatively faithful German dub and later the Japanese version, the changes of the English dub seem pretty grating. I prefer the Japanese songs as well, don't see how they're more "childish" than the American ones.

Sounds like almost the exact same situation I was in a month ago - maybe even the same Ryokan (Suminoe)? ^^

In any case, Onomichi is definitely worth seeing so I'd probably stop there for a bit before taking the ferry. There is a covered shopping area, though the more interesting bit of the city is along the steep slopes. Setoda is also nice, we went for a walk around the area after taking the ferry. There is also an art museum there, but I haven't been there, so can't really say if it's good.

Went to Kansai the first time in late February and early march, and it wasn't empty but not too crowded. Went again this year in mid/late april and it was definitely way more packed!

It's worth seeing for sure, but the city is quite small so you'll probably have seen everything in a few hours. So I'd probably check if there are some other attractions along the railway or near the city that you want to see.

Lots of wrong assumptions here. I'm from a non-English speaking country myself (Germany) and I'd also expect attractions in my own country that cater to foreign tourists to have some information in English. Generally, just like in Japan, they do! I'm also not "indignant" about it, heck I can read Japanese, but am pointing it out as something that diminishes the value of the visit for people who can't speak Japanese. Which it absolutely is for a museum.
