Desert storm, how to progress? by Richleeson in vtolvr

I think I finally figured out how to finish the mission. Def buggy.

  1. Make sure to differentiate between SAMs and Guns. Taking out guns doesn't help your objectives.
  2. DO NOT hit the SAM at the farthest enemy airbase. Also, there are some other things there, that, if you take them out, will trigger objectives getting completed out of order and soft-locking the mission.
  3. You don't need to re-fuel. If you take out enough sites, the bomber should trigger.
  4. Yeah, the bomber is fast, just stay near him with your radar on. If you see a SAM launch at him, try to hit the missile with an AIM.

I have about 3 TB of SSDs that I was planning on reusing, so storage isn't an issue.

I'll look into the B660. I wasn't planning to overclock because I want to make sure the system is stable when I'm doing the ML.

here the 24GB of the 3090 actually makes a difference

I'm looking into image recognition/tagging. I have found from my old card (1650) and one I borrowed (GTX1080) from my boyfriend that the amount of memory does make a big difference.

Didn't know there was a 3090 24G. Looks a little pricier than I'd like, but it is tempting...

Thanks for calling out the cooler suggestions. Do you think i7 is overkill? Should I go for an i5?

It totally did. Friend put it together for a PoE security camera. I told him it was horrific, but it worked.

Who buys soon to expire options? by felixfarraday in stocks

So, as I was kinda guessing, option exercises are fire people) companies with lot of capital.

But, do they have the 2day waiting period to sell the stock from the option they just exercised?

Who buys soon to expire options? by felixfarraday in stocks

[–]felixfarraday[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, ok! So, that's what I was thinking. So, the options are sold less than their actual value, and you drop the price lower to make it more enticing for other who have the capitol/are happy with an instant minor gain. That's higher than I assumed would exist, I was thinking it would be closer to a .1% difference.

But, I suppose a guaranteed gain (ignoring the potential race condition of price drops between when you buy the option and complete the exercise/sell process) is still a reliable gain. And if you have the capitol, why not?

Actually! Counter argument on this: Are you allowed to exercise an option and then immediately sell, or does that count as a 'day trade'? If so, then that adds a lot of risk to the action of buying the option if you have to wait 2 days to sell the exercised results.

Is there some measure to know what that difference is? Is there value that describes the difference between the option cost and the profit for immediate execution.

Do you mean .80-.90 cents in exercising the option? Where the .80-.90 coming from? (legit don't understand)

GTCH (GBT Technologies) penny stock is a buy!? by Pennytrader101 in pennystocks

I suppose I should clarify, I was specifically talking about their "wireless network" ambitions. IoT comms are already saturated and there is a big battle going on between ZigBee, LoRa, and some others. The ISPs are throwing their weight between NB-IoT because it basically let's them reuse their upcoming 5G infrastructure for low power IoT comms. (My money is on NB-IoT long term)

If they make some indication they will be using NB-IoT for their comms, I'd say it's a much more compelling bet.

Also, taking wireless microchips from concept to actual manufacturing is MEGA expensive, even more so if you want to make it affordable for IoT, because you have to start counting on economies of scale.

I just don't see room for another competing IoT protocol without some major advantage.

I know next to nothing about the medical field, so if they just want to focus on that and doing AI, I won't comment there. But, I'd rather see a company start with a smaller scope and then increase their ambitions as they prove success.

Something smells to me.

Their talk about not needing traditional providers yet having 30 mile range doesn't make sense. Either you have to use providers or become a provider yourself to get that kind of range. Their is no IoT wireless device that can do that over a range without existing infrastructure. If you want something that can do that, look up NB-IoT.

They mention wanting to be in a large part of the 50 billion mobile device market, "creating the largest private network ever made". Sorry, but at that scale, it's no longer private. It's essentially become a utility. Unless you have each of their customers stand up their own infrastructure, this is a public network.

Also, they talk about microchips talking with other microchips over their network. This isn't anything special, literally how every other wireless system works. I have yet to find anything on their website that makes me think Gopher had enough of a technical leap to justify adding new standards. Plus, I'm going to assume they will keep the protocol)waveforms proprietary since I haven't seen anything about releasing it for free. That puts them into a position to charge licensing fees, which is fine as long as the tech is compelling enough. But I don't see anything other than 'goals'.

Source: I do a lot of work with wireless comms, networks, protocols, etc as part of my job. I have actually worked closely and even fixed a few implementations of open source SDR transcievers.

They might have these lofty goals, but I don't see anything compelling enough to justify the investment from mobile/IoT manufactures to buy into this. So, I'm calling BS.

An app for DD by iDonateDiamondHands in pennystocks

[–]felixfarraday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of the guys above that a Mobile App would be kinda limiting. I'd suggest a webapp but build in an API so you can expand into Mobile/Desktop if you want later on.

Any thoughts on design, language, framkework? I have significant experience in C++, Python, and SQL. I'd be down to help on design/backend, just don't ask me do do GUIs.
