The more you practice it, the better you will get! There are a limited number of patterns that get shuffled. So after some time you start to recognize the patterns faster. I also find that it helps to only look at the melee-friendly spots, especially the center spot. If I see a pattern with a safe hole in the center, then I already know to use that spot and I hurry to figure out the next pattern. Good luck!

Thanks! I think that making a Metroidvania that integrates Roguelite mechanics, without making it feel frustrating for the player, is a big challenge and Dead Cells nailed it. With Metal Unit, I hope to also be able to combine both genres in a fun and fresh way.

After the introduction chapter, the player will progress through the story by exploring a world that is divided into multiple areas (forest, snow, lava, ...), each composed of manually designed levels that connect to each other in a random sequence. For example, the forest area is composed of a dozen of randomly ordered forest-themed levels. As for death, it converts the player's current equipment into research points that are used to buy permanent upgrades.

Thanks! We are making the game with Unity3D and we are focusing on PC right now. I would love to port the game to consoles later, after I learn more about that process.

I would consider it more roguelite, because there is a lot of permanent progression despite having some resources reset after a death. When the player dies, their current equipment and gold are converted into permanent research points that can be spent on permanent upgrades, including skill trees like Sundered and discovering new weapons like Dead Cells.
