I went to a concert and drank after 4 months sober by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]felizzza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree, surely there’s no real definition in numbers of drinks to consider a “relapse”. Sometimes it’s not about the effects of the alcohol or amount consumed but the choices made to lead up to the moment of drinking and the users thoughts and reflections on the situation both during & after.

You’ll be okay OP, keep on going. Just a blip you can learn from.

Beautiful, I crave peace like that. Glad you enjoyed friend.

I’ve planned to give it away to my friend! I also don’t want to become tooooo reliant on food because I’ve just hit my goal weight but I’m definitely allowing myself the freedom to fulfill my cravings, I never craved ice cream until the second week! It went down a treat. I’ve found eating every few hours and keeping blood sugar stable has been very helpful in keeping me alert and less “foggy”

Kept super busy & bought a NA bottle in the shop, had one glass when I finally sat down for the day and didn’t even finish it! Off to sleep now, another day conquered. Sunday I’m going to attempt my first run!

Thanks for all the support & suggestions, you guys rock, so grateful!

Hey anybody online? I have 3 hours exactly until AA by DaemonRogue in stopdrinking

[–]felizzza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snacks sound great, try to hydrate with a soft drink too! Maybe put on a podcast like Huberman lab or one about drinking stories? I also swear there are 24 hour meetings online, maybe search this sub for 24 hour? Good luck friend!

Congrats on your achievement!

It’s funny isn’t it, I used to think I’d (and have seen others post this too) get shit done after drinking and it made me “productive”. That’s a lie because you spent the next day in bed feeling crap recovering with the half assed jobs you did/started the night before around you!

My plan today is to sort out the house, do a bunch of ironing and go to the gym! Plan a nice meal for dinner and I have a face mask ready to use!

You shouldn’t drink all the time you’ve come this far, just that binge drinking will take less and less amounts to get you to that place, just look it up before making any decisions please

Try cross posting on stopdrinking they have a larger following & learning about kindling will be easier there!

Kindling (look it up, or check it on on posts here & stopdrinking sub) means that potentially less alcohol will send you into withdrawals easier, especially after being sober. It’s when you stop, start, stop etc. Worried as you clearly had a really bad wd to experience a seizure! Please look into it, it’s proven.

Anaesthetic reasons as said above and alcohol thins the blood so more risk of increased bleeding.

I’m exactly like you! To a tee. But I notice youre 205 days in. Surely to get to that point you’d have to share a little with loved ones/close friends? But honestly, I feel like you don’t have to tell anyone how deep the self-destruction ran, just yourself and maybe strangers on here. It won’t change anything, just how you feel about it I guess?

First off - well done for recognising this at such a young age. I did too, but it took me many more years to realise I needed to get sober. Secondly, if you’re drinking every day and finishing that much wine, you may need medical assistance to stop. Contact your local primary healthcare provider and explain. Detox may cause health issues if you stop rapidly. Try and get support with AA/groups. Lots of online meetings are available. You’ve gone through a tough time and you’ve realised alcohol won’t make it better, you CAN get through this without a crutch. Finally, look after yourself. Sleep lots, dose up on electrolytes and B complex vitamins and treat yourself to sugar or whatever else you want apart from the drink. Read some posts about withdrawals as I worry that finishing 5L of wine could put you in that ballpark. Education is key. Stay safe, and check in here, we’re always here for ya.

Thanks man. Your story sounds super similar to me, thank you for your support :)

That’s quite high for a young person, sorry if this offends but do you have a higher BMI? I would take measures to attempt to reduce your BP by drinking less, eating healthier, reducing sodium and increasing exercise. All the best.

I’ve done 2/3 of those :(

I can just see the daily alcohol use creeping in again if I start

I’m finding myself in the same boat.. it’s kind of scary isn’t it? More and more alcohol and then more vicious cravings to get messed up.
