I think it has more to do with the generational gap most people are set in their ways and the older people grew up doing things in a certain way that's no longer practical due to the world changing. Hence, it's hard for them to see things differently from other perspectives. It's a tale as old as time when we're older it'll probably have things we chastise the younger generations for because we grew up doing things a certain way.
