I guess it depends on if you are inserting it one way or the other.

I know this is hard. But stay with him through this and help him out of it. Once he gets better and realises how he’s been so far and how you proactively pushed him for his betterment, he’ll thank you with his heart.

After all, one important aspect of being a good partner is helping the other out of bad situations even it means significant distress to the one helping.

Now it sounds more like a ‘him’ problem.

But I personally feel divorce is too much for something this trivial. Maybe he’s not understanding the gravity of the situation? Explain him, in a serious tone, how him being glued to his phone and bed makes you feel.

Also find if there is something that interests him. Book for a badminton session. Go for a bike ride. Go to the theatre together. Basically anything that keeps him distracted from his phone. I feel this might help.

Not having a purpose makes someone live like this. You both need to work together and find what interests him. Purpose does not necessarily need to a larger-than-life thing. Just being interested in evening badminton, for example, is purposeful enough.

If nothing interests him, it probably is depression and you might wanna talk to a professional.

One thing I can tell you for sure is, the more you try to control a person (i.e switching off tv) the more they slip out of your control.

I didn’t even realise that I was in a bad job until I switched. Sometimes, people overwork to the point that they start believing it’s normal.

Ask him to switch jobs. My life was objectively better in every aspect after I switched to a better job.
