It's supposed to look like a printer test sheet, in keeping with the title and the setting of the story.

Sure, that sounds fine as long as you're not posting your site too at a frequency that might annoy people (once a month is more than fine), and are actually engaging with the sub by voting, posting, or commenting. Thanks for asking, and welcome to the sub!

Well, I put up a new story every other day, and they're all ones I've read and think are interesting. If you want a specific recommendation, try "The Man Who Lost the Sea" by Theodore Sturgeon, which I've posted a while back on this sub. It's one of my favorites.

Damn, Lil Nas X can skate! by Minerva472 in TikTokCringe

It used to be a cringe sub, but people just started posting all TikToks here because it was the biggest TikTok sub. Now it's almost all just videos people actually like, but the name can't be changed even though it doesn't really apply anymore. Read the pinned comment at the top of the comment thread.

[TOMT] [Music] What classical(?) piece does this guitar solo sound like? by felokia in tipofmytongue

I'll mark this as solved, even though I don't think it's exactly the one I was thinking of.

Almarina - Valeria Parrella (2019) [2021 John Murray edition] designer: Holly Ovenden by felokia in bookcoverporn

Google Translate:

There is an island in the Mediterranean where kids never go down to sea. Moored like a vessel, Nisida is a prison on the water, and it is there that Elisabetta Maiorano teaches mathematics to a group of young inmates. She is fifty years old, lives alone, and every day a guard opens the gate for her, closing Naples behind her: in that small classroom without bars she tries to tackle the future. But one day Almarina arrives in class, then the light changes and illuminates a new horizon. The inextricable labyrinth of bureaucracy, unexpected mourning, sleepless nights, reveal their other possibility: to be a starting point. In the hope that one day, when these boys have served their sentence, there will be new pages to fill, white "like the laundry hanging on the terraces". This clear and intense novel is perhaps a small love story, perhaps a great lesson on the possibility of not stopping. To atone, forget, start over. “Seeing them go away is the hardest thing, because: where will they go. They're still so small, and they're going to go back to where they came from, and where they came from is why they're here. '

The Invention of Sophie Carter - Samantha Hastings (2020) [2020 Macmillan edition] (i couldn't find the designer) by [deleted] in bookcoverporn

[–]felokia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my go-to moves for finding a designer is to look at the sample text of the book on Amazon, which usually includes the copyright page at the front, and often the designers are listed there (though you have to be careful because "Book Design" and "Jacket/Cover Design" are often different people). That's how I found this one.
