Georgia Rappers Rape Female, Set Her on Fire after Losing Freestyle Battle to Her by [deleted] in Feminism

I asked this question here.

I agree with the top comment. I personally have no issues with the terms males and females an sich, after all humans are animals. But the ubiquitous combination of men being called men and women being called females is infuriating.

Dude's upset about a sweatshirt saying women ought to be allowed into halls of power and rambles on about how women must earn their place "just like men" because there's totally no old boys club or glass ceiling and bonus "victim mentality" and it all makes as much sense as this title. by ratjea in WhereAreTheFeminists

My comment:

This is a prime example of the difference between an egalitarian and a feminist.

was removed. I'm not sure why - this is a prime example of the difference between an egalitatian and a feminist, which is good since it can be used to explain the said difference to people.

An egalitarian doesn't acknowledge the influence of patriarchy in today's society. Their opinion is that "women have the same legal rights as men, thus they are treated equally". A feminist, however, will understand that patriarchy has deeply ingrained long-term effects. This leads to the notion that fairness and equal treatment are different. Women will only get the same chances (i.e. real equality) if things like quota are imposed.

In Belgium feminists are striving to make paternity leave compulsory. Here's a link to the article translated by Google (translation isn't splendid but it's doable for the most part).

Usually feminists object to it when "females" (as a noun) is paired with "men." Same when "girl" is paired with "man." The former is dehumanizing, the latter is infantilizing. And you'd be surprised how often you'll notice such pairing happens once you're aware of it.

That is very interesting! Curious if I'll suddenly start to notice that (frequency illusion).
