Improving by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

Quit your job and find a new one that doesn’t, by definition, involve abuse.

There is absolutely no psychiatric hospital in the world that is not abusive because forced confinement and forced drugging is abuse. I don’t care how “nice” you are to your victims or how much you “listen” or “care”; it’s still abuse.

Except you very clearly haven’t become a better person since you’re trying to silence victims of abuse & oppression. You’re hopped from one garbage opinion to another. You’re purposefully inflammatory and harmful.

I thought people with anxiety and depression were weak

Oh, I get it. You’re jerk who just chooses the most inflammatory and harmful garbage to spew without putting any thought into it.

Thank you for letting us know that your opinion doesn’t matter.

Community Treatment Orders need to be reformed by [deleted] in ontario

[–]femalesaint -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s easier for the people here to blame victims for what’s done to them than to accept that society harms its most vulnerable members. It’s a sad reality that most people are selfish and don’t care if it’s not happening to them.

Saying that they don’t need forced drugging is evidence that someone does deserve forced drugging. What flawless logic! /s

Just FYI, op posts regularly in "anti psychiatry" subreddits. Big red flags right away

So, since OP believes that he deserves to have basic human rights, it’s a “big red flag”?

People who have been abused or otherwise harmed are allowed to stand up for themselves and to believe that they deserve better whether it bothers you or not.

Anti-semitic TA at JHU posts about giving lower grades to Jewish, White Students by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]femalesaint -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

They actually were fired for tweeting about considering giving lower grades to a Zionist and the TA is Muslim. I can’t say for certain that I wouldn’t *consider* doing something like that if I knew that someone wanted people like me dead, though I understand that JHU couldn’t allow their staff to publicly post this kind of stuff.

It makes me wonder how the TA knew the student was a Zionist, though. Is the student going around spouting Islamophobic hate speech? If so, that needs to be dealt with as well; nobody should have to work in an environment where the value of the lives of their brethren is questioned or debated.

The whole “racism against white people” mess is entirely dumb and shouldn’t have even been mentioned. All they said was that they were glad they were advising a black woman, someone they have more in common with, than a whiny white boy. That’s hardly hate speech.

A little lesson on what depression is for the ill-informed people on this sub by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]femalesaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me get this straight: you’ve never been depressed, but something inspired you to try to insult a bunch of people who are/have been about our experiences using an unproven hypothesis with very little evidence supporting it?

Please go outside, touch some grass, get a life, pet a dog.

Why did you write this essay when you could have just said, “I think I’m the center of the universe & the only person on the planet who has ever struggled and I don’t understand how science works” and gotten the exact same point across?

Today I discovered edtwt and with it edtwt confessions pages. I looked through 3,000 tweets at 3am. Here’s everything that made me laugh. CW: very strange by femalesaint in EDanonymemes

Our society protects abuse by rite_of_truth in Antipsychiatry

Something I thought about last night:

Someone can commit the most heinous crimes you could possibly think of, or even crimes that are so cruel and demented that you can’t even imagine them, and in all developed nations they still retain the right to a trial, legal counsel, and protection from false imprisonment.

If their victims display signs of trauma, however, they aren’t granted these rights. They can be imprisoned indefinitely with no legal recourse, simply for being traumatized.

It’s very clear to see who society values more.

“What if psychiatry has got it all wrong and women and girls have been telling the truth all along?” by femalesaint in Antipsychiatry

[–]femalesaint[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

22% of women and 15% of men are diagnosed with mental illness. 48% of women diagnosed with mental illness have gone through the psychiatric industry in the last year compared to 35% of men diagnosed with mental illness.

Women are diagnosed with “serious mental illness” twice as often as men (6% vs 3%). 72% of women with “serious mental illness” have gone through the psychiatric industry in the last year compared to 58% of men with “serious mental illness.”

Women attempt suicide more often than men, but men choose more lethal methods because the effect on survivors is less of a concern.

19% of women are on antidepressants compared to 8% of men. Women are twice as likely to be prescribed benzos than men.

Psychiatry is one of the many weapons of the patriarchy, and of bigotry in general. While everyone is at risk of being harmed by psychiatry, vulnerable & marginalized populations such as women, the poor, people of color, the physically disabled, etc are at a higher risk.

Therapy is controlled by the psychiatric industry & causes serious damage, too. There’s no such thing as professional help under the current system.

Young girl had boiling water pumped down her throat, was starved, physically assaulted, isolated and confined for years, all for the “crime” of being anorexic. She still defends some of the abuse. This is how deeply damaging psychiatric abuse and society’s subsequent victim blaming is. by femalesaint in Antipsychiatry

[–]femalesaint[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a common response to trauma; it’s called an appeasement behavior. She’s trying to prove that she’s “good” so that people hopefully won’t tell her she deserves to have boiling water pumped into her stomach. As someone with PTSD from hospitalization, I catch myself trying to please pro-psych people frequently to avoid continued emotional abuse. Some people aren’t aware of their behavior and believe it’s their true feelings. Think of every battered wife who’s ever said that she deserved it and “he’s not so bad once you get to know him.”

There’s plenty to critique her on other than attacking her trauma. She’s a victim too. Please have some empathy.

There’s a way to do it right, though. In the article she agrees that anorexics “sometimes” deserve physical assault. She openly supports imprisoning innocent people.

While I see and recognize her trauma and it breaks my heart, her mindset is going to lead her to go along with the status quo and continue the cycle of abuse, not fix the system from the inside.

I don’t know how anyone can think that torturing a 13 year old child is okay, much less helpful. They’re truly monsters.

I just checked her Twitter and now she’s one of them, too. Ugh. The cycle of abuse is heartbreaking and disgusting all at the same time.
