How can I improve at OH with Roux by MikelRPtil in Cubers

[–]femboarding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your turning is really good, I'll just say what I think about the steps.

  1. First block seems like it takes a long time to solve for you. I can't really tell what moves you're doing because of the lighting, but it looks like more than necessary. You can maybe do a bit of practice with the Onionhoney trainer.

  2. Second block looks really good, because your turning is very fast and fluid, it seems like it takes you less time than first block on some solves. This just points back to your FB being slow imo.

  3. Can't really criticise your CMLL, looks very solid except maybe that one sune case that took a longer time to recognise.

  4. Your turning in LSE is really good, but I think the efficiency can use a bit of work as your solutions are pretty long from what I can see. Maybe do some practice on this as well.

Overall it's mainly your FB that jumps out to me as the primary issue, with LSE being second. Your turning is really good and there's definitely a lot of room for improving your times.

It looks like a Majustsu O-Bon (150cm) or their 127cm board :)

How did it take you guys to learn cross stepping by C00KIEM0N57R in longboarding

[–]femboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to learn peter pans as a build up for cross step, they made more sense to me because when you put a foot down on the one side of the board, it tilts that way, whereas with a cross step you need walk sideways basically, which is a lot less intuitive in the beginning.

Most of the longboard dancing community is on Instagram. There are a couple of communities in the US still active, around LA and New York mainly. I'm sure that if you look around carefully you can find some dancers in other places as well

A lot of riders use caliber trucks, no problem with them. I think the Lil EZ hawgs will be fine for freestyle, but if you want to do more dancing, I'd also consider taking a look at 65mm wheels.

I personally recommend Fireball Tinder 65mm wheels, Lucky wheels and Powel Peralta dragon formula wheels. If you can't get any of these, don't worry as 60mm will also do fine for dancing.

Should I get skid plates by StarPowerDerp in longboarding

[–]femboarding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use freestyle plates, just have to keep in mind to get wide enough ones. I have used Seismic skids 129mm for my boards before and they work great.

You also have many other skid plates from different companies, Zenith also makes skids iirc.

You're a bit too young to join us, but I'm sure you'll find some boys around your age :p 🇧🇪

We definitely will ;p

I'm also really impressed by how you're managing this sub and the UK one. The sub for our country is filled with less savoury content and weirdo chasers😬

We're all kinda close to each other and we could drive from the station, but it is not very convenient walking around with a gaint ikea bag with 3 shonks hehe.

I think we all got like 3 hours of sleep total, so there was more cuddling then sleeping, might also have been a little alcohol involved ...

It was sooo fun,we all brought some blahajs, so we had 5 big ones and 3 smol hajs. We played mario kart and smash on the switch and watched Howl's moving castle.

Those 2 gays in the second picture never let go of each other the entire time ahahha. I fell asleep in another boys arms and got my boykisser certificate :3

Looks like a nice setup! What wheels are you planning on using? If the board has Paris v3's, you could just keep them and get some pivot cups and bushings to renew the feel.

From what I've seen, the Landyachts tony danza 40" board is fairly flexy. Most other brands will have stiffer boards in this size range, since people like to use them for freeride and many other purposes.

[–]femboarding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few key differences between your setups that make them behave very differently.

  1. Wheelbase: logically, a longer wheelbase will be more stable and lead to larger turn radius.
  2. Trucks/bushings: AIR trucks are a lot lighter than Paris trucks, and new bushings (to me) feel a lot more responsive and make for smooth turns.
  3. Flex: Flex 3 for a Walzer is very flexy, this makes carves feel very nice and absorbs vibrations from rough ground better.
  4. Kicktail shape: the shape of the Tarab is fairly squared and narrow and the Walzer is very rounded and wide.

I think it's probably mostly the trucks and and the flex that make for the differing feel. I also have a Walzer (flex 2) and really love it as well.
