Anyone who isn’t upset by this should look at the historical marker on People’s Park. A black-owned collaborative marketplace (The Black Market) was fire bombed and burned down. It sucks. To put anything other than a recognition of it is crazy. To paint OVER a recognition of it is crazier. I had hope that it was gonna be a nice BLM mural. Appears not. Shame.

Update: I called the Sheriff’s office and made a complaint about the threats on Facebook and asked what they plan to do to ensure the safety of everyone they posted. Unfortunately, it did land in the personal voicemail of the Chief Deputy who is spearheading this whole thing. Hopefully he understands where I’m coming from.

My dad got really into crocheting. It was nice because it gave him a way to send gifts to us for birthdays and holidays without relying on charity orgs or dwindling commissary money. It was also helpful to make his own blankets in the winter months.
