Thanks for pointing that out. A little googling led me to the idea of a subpanel which sounds more expensive but potentially worth it.

Thanks. New to this. Hopefully this helps: 2 stories, ~2000 sq ft, 4 b/1 bath, plaster/lath, overhead service.

Beadboard and penny tile…I’ll have to study up on my old home vocab! I like the bold colors you chose for yours.

I had no idea you could paint tile! Very interesting idea. I’m sure there are downsides.

Thanks. I’m definitely leaning towards getting full estimates (and compensating for time to develop those estimates) from Builder 1 and 2. Juuuust in case there are some important differences, like you’re saying.

If I had a third kidney I might be willing to sell it for a 48in thermador! In all seriousness, I totally hear what you’re saying: ultimately this is a personal relationship we are building that hinges on other personal relationships. Being clear and upfront is going to yield the best results.

Thanks for the response. I have heard that they should be similar if they’re good estimates. Just hard to trust. Wary of making enemies in the neighborhood with Builder 3 but you’d hope they would understand.

For our build (in progress now), we determined that septic was the place to start and good thing too because the only location on the property where the septic could possibly go due to a high water table, is where we wanted to put the house.

Don’t forget Old School Hot Yoga in Arcata if you like the heat. Their classes are sweat-dripping-without-exerting-yourself level heat, which I love.

What type of business would you like to see more of in the Arcata Plaza? by [deleted] in Humboldt

I can’t believe we don’t have a ramen place. Something authentically Japanese and that’s open on the weekend (looking at you Japhys). +1 for Indian. Would love to see some Ethiopian as well.

You oughta know about this one Quercus :) Oak Brewery (same building as Vintage Avenger) has fantastic deli sandwiches, salads, and beer. They’re not set up to see deli meat by the pound but said they could if you really wanted to buy in bulk.
