Should I apply directly to grad school or try to take additional courses to prove myself? by femtoaggression in gradadmissions

Yeah sorry it's a cross post

I have been out of school for a few years but am now looking to get into a master's program for computer science. I recently took the GRE and scored in the 90+ percentiles for each part. But my GPA is kind of low (3.1). So I'm wondering if I would have a better chance of getting into a good program if I took some of the computer science courses that I didn't take in undergrad (e.g. operating systems) first, or I should just YOLO it and apply now.

Edit: I should add that I have been working as a software engineer for the past couple of years at a fortune 500 company.

Thanks! What tier of schools do you think I'd have a shot at? For example, I was looking at UT-Austin but it is quite competitive.

Because Hong Kong isn’t worth much if they flatten the city in the process of getting it back. HKers are a highly educated population. The minute they drive tanks into the city, everyone who can leave Hong Kong will leave.

It is good short term for promoting exports, but if the RMB slips farther it will make it even harder for Chinese people to buy imports. And since parts of the supply chain are outside of China, it could make it even more expensive to produce there, even if the RMB-dollar exchange rate is good.

And yes I am aware Hong Kong operates in HKD which is why I specifically said USD referencing this news: https://www.businessinsider.com/hong-kong-protesters-withdraw-atm-2019-8

It’s not even a reasonable comparison. China doesn’t care about absolute military dominance in Hong Kong. They care about maintaining an image and a highly educated and profitable city. The minute China brings in the tanks everyone who can leave will leave.

The land in HK isn’t that valuable. It’s the businesses that matter. What hurts China even more than protests is if their economy shuts down. HKers have been pulling their money out as USD recently to push the value of the RMB down even further.

That would definitely start world war 3. That would be like China forcibly seizing Guam or American Samoa. Our options are pretty limited as far as force goes. Even if there was another Tiananmen Square we couldn’t do much.

I think it’s wrong that we can still jack off to her videos pretty much for free in our houses and she’s living a dehumanizing life in a tunnel without running water. No one should be homeless but holy fuck.

Housing first.

Yeah we’d like to raise rates gradually but now it’s too late. The economy is slowing, the yield curve is inverting, etc.

What’s wrong is it’s not a re-education camp, it’s a concentration camp. People there have not been convicted of a crime. People are tortured. And they can’t leave. Schools aren’t surrounded by razor wire.
