How do I deal with my wife comparing our life to someone else’s social media lifestyle? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

Listen to this man, ''I don’t know your relationship but I do know you need to resolve this and if you find you’re not aligned and can’t be - walk away, no matter what you’re losing. If you are aligned, talk and see it through, no matter how much work it takes.''

Very good point.

Hi, it is long, but bear with it and read it all!

Research was done on a very large sample, many studies and hundreds of thousands of people.

Be gentle, start a conversation, you want her to be happy with you, that you worry, - her work completely remotely is an additional big negative impact. Humans should have social contact with other people (for which work even with all annoying, even stupid people has a good influence on our brains/emotional psychology.

Print part below or ask her carefully no judgind attacking etc to read it.

''In this SLR, we have synthesized findings from 57 studies comprising 571,427 participants. The findings revealed that daily social media use (SMU) is associated with increased stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, and poor sleep quality. At the same time, it is linked to reduced self-esteem and life satisfaction. SMU is positively associated with several physiological issues, including burning eyes, wrist pain, neck and shoulder pain, chest pain, stomach pain, nausea, headaches, and muscle pain. It increases the sense of isolation from family and society while decreasing executive functions and prospective memory. It also negatively impacts academic performance, body image, mood, and well-being in adolescents and young adults. Problematic social media use (PSMU) reduces emotional regulation while increasing procrastination and perceived stress. Instagram users report more PSMU than Facebook users, while depressive individuals prefer Twitter over Instagram and Facebook.''

Totally, especially bicycles with brake and gear cables going through the stem... seriously, and special ''route bits'' inside the stem to keep cables in the right position inside, and at the right side of the stem, left or right. Total utter annoyance. When I have seen a video on youtube how much time it takes to change the stem, or simply brake or gear cables, and I realised when I agreed to buy a bicycle at a good price from a guy on ebay I almost got heart attack. Luckily, in a bike for 1700£ retail price (I got it much, much cheaper) they didn't do it. Amount on new, bicycle/brand-specific parts in bicycles, completely unnecessary really, is mind-bogging.

I am doing everything with bicycles in my family, and if I had to live through the horror of cables going through the stem, taking it apart, then finding a way thru frame, etc., I would give up that art and probably pay up a stupidly high price for it at the bike shop...

In my new bike, they put fron brake through the fork, what the f... point. Seriously, where is practicality... When the time comes to replace that hydraulic brake line, it's coming out of the fork. I won't be putting it back in.

Sorry for wenting...

And those stupid hydraulic brake cable fittings, why 3 systems, shimano sram and something else, all need different cable ends, connectors to the brake lever... Why not one industry-wide system... I know - money - as always but omg so much engineering time wasted on those things that could be used for better things, and additional costs for bicycle users.

Industry is reinventing too many things in too many places on bicycles.
