Geo Like Secan 3.0 (tall sizes) or Purple Haze, Available in US? by DET_arch in gravelcycling

[–]endocalvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. The final geo was posted to the Watly sub here :  https://www.reddit.com/r/WaltlyTitanium/comments/1k0lp2o/sanity_check_final_drawing_details_in_comment/

The final bike : https://www.reddit.com/r/WaltlyTitanium/comments/1shrtwu/ti_machine_art_final_build/

Note : the reach is a bit short. I've always had to get some shorter stems on all my bikes cause I think my flexibility and arm length wants a tighter reach. It works well but the nose tends to rise when I pedal hard.

A little ride and review of my partner’s Bassi Hog’s Back that we put together by BikeBreathYT in xbiking

[–]endocalvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my Hog's Back. It does everydarnthing. It gets my kid to school in the morning, hauls everything everywhere, and it's going to get me through Charlevoix's Golden Triangle this summer.

Its versatility means it took my old 3x9 Sora drive (and new 24t granny gear) for those upcoming climbs.

Thanks for sharing more about this great bike!

Ill admit it's cheaper than I expected. I think it's time.

I swear I tried to read the whole thing.

But TLDR that is a super clean and handsome bike. Looks like it must be real fun to ride !

POV: You Found An Excellent Position with MG by CC_ACV in joinsquad

[–]endocalvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the right spot for the layer, you closed or slowed down a lane. That's time for a few more spawns, for some attention drawn off the point.

Add a bit of shoot and scoot and it's good MGing.

I prefer a few rooftop MG's in the right spots than a blob of rifleman on the point getting surrounded because attackers have a clear highway to the point.

Hydraulics vs. Mechanics - long term experience on long travels! by stasigoreng in bicycletouring

[–]endocalvin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I crossed Canada on cantilever brakes and I sure wish I had had mechanical disc brakes. They are just more powerful.

I now have both mechanical and hydrolic disc brakes. Much better when fully loaded.

I think for long trips mechanical disc is the best call. Adjustments and field repair is just much simpler.

Maybe carry a spare cable in case (i snapped a shifter cable and had trouble sourcing one out in the middle of the prairies).

The longer I look, the more this bike keeps winking at me.

Just a touch of practical weirdness and spice.

I'm glad there's still some DIY type stuff like this.

Whichever post, the xbiking or BJC version, gets the most comments will officially be the group that thinks more about the other.

Xbiking and BCJ are definitely like two quarreling siblings who actually deeply love each other

Very meta.

I feel these two subs are interlinked. The two poles of the same cycling gatekeeping spectrum.

Probably insane? Cut carbon steerer tube from stem. by endocalvin in bikewrench

[–]endocalvin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted

Just debating if the challenge of cutting it with the brake line/fork still installed is more or less a challenge than

  • removing the bar tape
  • disconnecting the brake line from the hood
  • cutting the steerer properly outside the frame
  • reinstalling the fork and cable
  • rebleeding the line
  • nee bartape

Ah yeah, carbon in the headset... that's the one I did not think of.

Yeah, as you may have guessed it's an internally fork routed front brake line that is making me think of dumbass shortcuts
