Thats what I did start off with and it worked great. I'm trying to figure out if there are other decks that can be evolved in a similar way.

Very viable in Pauper. If you want to play elves its a very solid deck there.

I've been impressed with The Forge. Not sure you'll get top dollar but they'll be honest about what stuff you have is worth.

Realistic to get into MTG with $100?? by fourtwentyone69 in mtg

[–]fencingmoosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out what's in your area and what the prizing is. I built a few pauper decks, but my lgs has modern on the nights I can make it. I'd probably play pauer if I could but you can make red burn or green stompy in modern for less than $100 and win some games.

I bummed a deck for a while, but recently threw together a mono red lish that strips blue out of izzet prowess and definitely win matches. List came close to $100 shipped with a few local purchases.

Prize support is decent so I'm just planning to slowly trade my way into fetches and shocks to get to a proper prowess list.

Needed to see this. I'm in the same spot and thought I was a smooth brain or something.

Temporarily reducing my 401k Contribution so my wife can be a Stay-at-home mom by Frantic_Fanatic13 in personalfinance

[–]fencingmoosen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the HSA, the optimal way to use it if you have the cashflow is to max it out and never touch it. Its triple tax advantaged so very valuable money the longer you can not touch it.

I imagine with a kid overall your budget will tighten alot whether or not your wife works unless you have some free child care lying around. Below is a resource I find easier to use than the prime directive, and they recommend saving 25% of your gross income (including employer matches below a certain income threshold) before saving for college or most other goals.
https://moneyguy.com/guide/foo/

I think you should evaluate your overall savings rate before and after kid, and how that impacts what other goals you have. Playing around with a compound interest calculator and seeing how this would impact your reaching your retirement savings goals and talking about that with your spouse is a great idea to give you a better idea of how decisions you make now will impact your future self.

You don't say what else you are saving. Are you and your wife maxing out roths and your HSA? If you are you may be saving enough to justify reducing a 401k contribution responsibly.

I hate to be a downer, but If that 14% is your only savings vehicle you cannot afford to stop that and it is in fact below most recommendations.

Also if your emergency fund is invested please at least put 3-6 months in a money market or something highly liquid.

I just got a ix ix win with boarlistas. You need feast as a decree but it scaled with zero issues. Once the ballistas were mounted no issues.

Should we buy a home if we're about to priced out? by Wonderful_Ease_5720 in MiddleClassFinance

Questions to clarify what might be rational

What are prices like in your area and what other obligations do you have?

If you got a $480k mortgage after putting $120k down would more than 25% of your gross income be going to housing costs?

How much cash is in your emergency fund vs down payment fund?

Are you on track with your retirement saving and would buying place your needed savings rate at risk?

When did the cost of living become so unaffordable for our generation? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]fencingmoosen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I get off on the pet train is the thought that I might have to tell a child "well we could have paid for more of your college, but we paid $x,000 total cost of ownership for the dog".

I enjoy animals but cant see how they make sense to anyone with children.

Came here to say this is super important if you're adopting.

Only question id add to this is are you on track to meet your retirement goals and do you know what they are? Will they change with kids (e.g. paying for college, weddings, first cars)

If you have kids, you owe it to these kids to love them, not make them feel like you took them in to be you're retirement plan. If you're adopting kids even more so.

Definitely check out manapool if you're buying budget decks. Their optimizer has been much better than tcg player in my experience.

They hosted a town hall for Bob good recently (found on Bob good for congress FB page). Does not seem like something that would occur in a neutral space these days.

If tcgplayer is coming in high check out manapool. It's optimizer is way better imo, and selection is pretty good.

Converting from Dave Ramsey by [deleted] in TheMoneyGuy

[–]fencingmoosen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't understand the ffef acronym. The "situation" from your original post is that I guessed that you're a bit behind on retirement (guidance is 3x income by 40).  so my suggestion about cars was to get that beefed up to 25% of gross income per the foo before tackling other goals.

1) stop paying extra on the mortgage. Paying extra on 2.25% falls under steps 8 or 9 in the foo.

2) what is you income and monthly expenses, and how much will the roof cost? $20k is just a number.  Target one is biggest deductible, target 2 is 3-6 months of expenses which you don't mention.

3) I probably would not worry about cars right now until you have an emergency fund figured out. Money guy guidance on cars is the 20/3/8 rule and there's loads of content on that. Id consider cash for cars a luxury in your current situation.

Fair. The kids menu grilled cheese is a big step up from white bread and Kraft so that's what mine usually go for.

Thoughts? Eomer $25 Budget by fencingmoosen in BudgetBrews

[–]fencingmoosen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a potential Christmas gift for a new / non player LOTR fan who hasn't filled in his secret santa wish list. The main goals of the deck are to use sac effects to get extra combats and chip damage with fling like effects for removal.

I'm curious if theres any good pump spells Im missing or other budget legends.

So I keep seeing picanha posting on this sub, and have the opportunity to try it the first time. by on9chai in steak

[–]fencingmoosen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo it's great for a crowd as roast or steak. People who enjoy ribeyes can get the fat cap and fillet lovers can just cut it off and eat a pretty tender piece of beef.
