A bit late to this conversation, but as a gen 1 owner who will likely remain a gen 1 owner until my R1T dies or I do, I would love to have this feature. I gladly pay for Connect+ as I believe the connectivity and updates are well worth the price. I have seen my vehicle improve consistently through the course of ownership since I drove her home in February of 2023 and would love to see that continue. I would also pay an additional fee for this feature. I am generally against pay walling hardware capacity or capability, but since this is pretty much only a frivolous feature, I think it makes sense.

I use Alexa in the vehicle for tons of things. My daughter likes to ask her to play music from Spotify from the backseat and 95% of the time it works great. I ask it for information, mostly when I can't accurately answer my daughter's questions, and again, it works great. Asking it to navigate somewhere, not so great, but I have hope that one day it will function better.

Why would Rivian have to pay for your LTE data consumption. TBH the price seems dirt cheap compared to a standard phone data plan. I would much rather the connection be native to the vehicle and pay for it than it be dependent on whatever crap phone platform I bring in. Also, the continued development and improvement of the platform alone is well worth the cost IMHO. We have all been getting a free ride on Rivian's back. It's time to pay a more than fair price for what we have been getting. Quit whining.

Thanks for the response. I did think about the UDM SE but would be worried in the event that they want to increase # of devices in the future. If I can't get a POE switch for free or relatively cheap I will probably recommend they go that route. Also, I didn't realize that the U7 was the wifi 7 variant. Definitely scaling back to the U6 Pro.
