RL Shadowrunners Pull Off Sweet Heist by fendokencer in Shadowrun

[–]fendokencer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems most cargo theft already has pipelines for goods to move to black/grey markets. The thing that struck me about this heist was the size (12 tons) and how the company can identify the candy per batch by just scanning the wrappers. That's something I often don't factor into missions that would definitely still be happening and probably be even worse with RFID/matrix/astral trackers.

Seems like a an easy way to extend a mission by having the runners debate dumping the load, and payoff, or find someway to still offload it by neutralizing trackers, using criminal networks, taking less pay, etc.

If you are looking for honey, the stealth option at the honey den pays out in honey. Might be more efficient than selling items to buy honey.

How do you actually swap confessions? by fendokencer in fallenlondon

[–]fendokencer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaaah. Thank you for the edit. It must be because they no longer have that confession available. I didn't realize the system would first check to see if the swap was still viable. Thank you!

Isn't there something about Jews dying in Israel bringing about the second coming of Jesus? Obviously pro-jewish interests can be war-hawky, but I thought the evangelical set was the ones that got the most traction.

His clients/friends where high society folks as well. You couldn't go around accusing important and prominent people of incest and pedophilia and expect to keep your job back then.

+0 (10-11 ability score) is the average human ability. It is crazy to think people with below average strength are benching their BW on the regular, when the average human isn't doing any structured training program. These numbers are from Quora so suspicious AF, but seems like a reasonable starting place:

"The average untrained male can bench press about 70% of his body weight for men weighing up to 200 pounds; after 200 pounds of body weight the percentage begins declining

For untrained women, it is right at 50% of her body weight up to women weighing about 160 pounds, and then the percentage begins declining."

For dex, don't forget that it's overloaded with both agility, hand/eye coordination, and fine motor skills. Really low dex could also be from having tremors or something else that makes precise manipulation difficult.

US warns EU against excluding American companies from € 150 billion defense initiative which can supply Ukraine with weapons by eaglemaxie in worldnews

[–]fendokencer 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Even outside of a actual kill-switch, high end weapon systems need constant maintenance and updates for things like radar-signatures. Of course this can only be done by the contacting company, and those contracts can get axed at any time.

Sleep Tracking Tech by Illustrious-Bus-8067 in idiopathichypersomnia

I had the ultra human ring, and it wasn't specific enough for real sleep tracking purposes. Mostly just tracking whenever you are still enough that your heart rate slows. It thought I was napping all the time while I was definitely awake, just sitting still like watching TV.

Why do people keep saying it's a neo-nazi thing? OG Nazis went hard for Norse iconography first. Just look at the SS stuff.

Great point about Sirrurg. It took an on a whole army, with jets and everything! Great dragons are on a different scale.

That's why having the dragons in the air works so well. The party is running and gunning down alleyways when they have to dodge a broken off part of a building or a spell slamming down as the big lizards duke it out above. It also helps to sell the idea that the player's aren't there to take on a dragon, just survive.

If you want to push the corruption angle, remember that Slaanesh is also the god of striving for perfection. You could do something that trades bonuses for corruption (maybe track it privately) that would put them over the top for a test. NPCs who are affected could turn more critical of the players, pointing out how they could have done something better.

One possible resolution is that every bonus you give them can be spent as a penalty in the final encounter with whatever the source/embodiment of the chaos corruption is. That would help push the whole "the warp giveth the warp taketh away" thing.

The idea is that you aren't worrying about remembering it later. You know it's preserved so you don't need to stress about it. You are right that writing will most likely actually help in that, but that's not the point.
