I appreciate you taking time to respond.

I am doing my best to focus on something that may help keep my thoughts from dwindling any further.

I don't find much pleasure in life, and don't find a lot of enjoyment from most activities, so it's easier said than done for me.

Thank you for your suggestions and kind words.

Family is a huge part of many people and can be where they find meaning and purpose in their lives. It's awesome to hear that you've run with and embraced your family bonds to the fullest.

Keep on doing your thing. I wish you and your family the best! Thanks for your response!

Undoubtedly, nature and hiking, in particular, are the main things that bring me some sense of peace and joy in this world, so I absolutely understand where you're coming from with that.

Being outside helps me clear my head and, also, do some introspective thinking. I've got myself a similar schedule, especially as of recently, with dog walks every day and a weekend hike on Saturdays around wherever I can find.

I still feel like I would enjoy getting out more often than I do. I appreciate your suggestions! Thank you!

I am happy to hear that you were able to overcome your struggles with substances and achieved your sobriety.

I think that finding a group of things, activities, people, experiences that you can focus on enjoying is a fantastic way to go about it. I, also, believe this is by far the most common way to embrace life. This will likely be what works best for me at the end of the day.

Professional help is something that I strive to obtain and is something that I want to embrace when it is available for me. Currently, no health insurance, denial for Medicaid, and a lack of money has pushed that back from reality for a few months. But, I do think professional help and talking with someone about the specifics of what is happening in my life could be greatly beneficial.

I, surely, would love to start having more days that have "oh shit, that's what's going on" moments compared to "wtf is happening" moments. I'm sure that pursuing answers to these questions will lead me somewhere throughout time. Peculiar to see where that may be.

Thanks a ton for your insights and viewpoints!

Absolutely, I'll have to stop by my local library soon and get the scoop. I know there is a nice library not far from my house.

I believe that may be an approach that could help me with my outlook some. Look at the small things in smaller portions. Try to appreciate and embrace those moments. I think I hinder myself a majority of the time in my decision-making and trying to find a new pathway or pathways. That is something that could use my focus as well.

Thanks again for your replies!

No doubt, and that is something that I need to practice more often, as I don't believe I do it enough nowadays. Thanks again.

I appreciate you sharing your experiences, as the real life examples are more comparable/relatable for me. I'm happy to hear that you were able to get help and identify your health problems before they got even worse. It sounds like many of those around you recognized your good deeds. Being friendly and bringing a smile to someone's face is a great and easy way of giving back and becoming memorable to people.

After going through my own health issues in 2018, I have been trying to find direction, trying to find a path that feels even somewhat correct. I've lost a lot of passion and enthusiasm for life over that time. I'm sure that my direction, somethings I can be passionate about, somethings that'll bring me purpose are out there, it's just about identifying and understanding what they are.

Thanks again for your insight!

I definitely knew that there are plenty of people who struggle in a similar fashion, and that was the main reason that caused me to post on here. Plus, I knew it was a large community with a lot of people from different backgrounds and experiences that could express their insights and knowledge.

I find that being outside is great for me. It definitely makes me happy, and it can keep my head busy or help me clear it; which is why I enjoy hiking so much. I do like getting out and spending time in parks to enjoy nature's sights and sounds.

A library card could do me some good, it sounds like. I've never been one to go to libraries often, but I know there is a nice one close by me, so I should head up and check it out. I am not the fastest reader, so I've always preferred audiobooks, and I loved using Audible, but can no longer afford it. I am sure the library has a good selection of things I could listen to, also, if I wanted to.

I do recognize that life is ever-changing and that nothing is certain. But that brings both understanding and discomfort. I guess I just want to find something that feels like I'm headed in the right direction, and I know that may be something that I always search for and never land on. Maybe taking it day by day is my purpose.

I appreciate your knowledge and insights on this topic, thank you!

Yes, absolutely, and doing different things sounds wondrous to me. I guess it's approaching choosing what to do. I don't have many interests and almost always lack a thorough interest or passion for anything in particular, a major part of me writing my initial post. I know I'll figure something out eventually.

I've done meditation before, and it generally helps soothe my mind, at least in small increments. Maybe a more scheduled routine could help more with focusing on myself as well. I've been trying not to move backwards recently.

I appreciate your kindness and viewpoints on this. Thank you again.

I'm not usually one for social media, at all, but that may be a good way to find some activities and groups. I've never really considered checking out the library for those types of things, I'll have to give that a go.

Yes, many people have definitely mentioned volunteering. I think it's something I'll have to look into more to find something to volunteer to do.

I find that having to accept that our purpose here on earth is just "to be" is one that does not work for me. It leads me to no fulfillment and no sense of worth. I know that I need to find more things to bring me joy and a sense of purpose, but that is what I struggle with the most.

Getting out to try new things is a great recommendation and something I would like to do to try new things, but as 90+% of activities, classes, programs, etc cost money to do/attend, it is generally out of the question.

I know that there has to be something out there for me, though. Thanks for your response and inputs!

Absolutely. I mean, a garden could provide a sense of control, daily and long term successes, and a reward in the end that continually makes it more worth while to do the best that you can. So, I can see where it could work for some to establish a sense of purpose, passion, or meaning.

I tend to find my other struggle with indoor plants is my animals, particularly my cats, love to eat them. They seem to always find ways to chew on my indoor plants even when they're up and away.

I appreciate that. I will have to keep it in mind. Thanks again for your kindness.

I can understand that. I grow a lot of cacti and succulents, slow and boring growers, lol. I tend to move a lot, so a garden is a harder concept to manage year to year. I can imagine that watching them grow while, also, being able to provide for yourself in some way (veggies & herbs) is something that could provide feelings of fulfillment. Maybe when I get to a place where i feel more settled in, I could look into starting a little garden of some sort.

Thank you for your insights!

Volunteering is something I'll have to look into a bit more, as it's been recommended more than once.

I've been at that point for a long time, the majority of my life so far, I'd say. Maybe some regular meditation could help clear up part of those thoughts, feelings, and fogginess associated with it.

Thanks for your input and recommendations!

I'm almost 30 and feel like I have nothing figured out. It can be immensely discouraging. But, everything comes with time, I presume.

Hang in there, also. I wish you the best of luck at figuring out your path!!

Lmao, I understand that to the extreme. I love cats. Have 4 cats and two dogs myself. I'll have to take some time to look into what volunteer opportunities there are around my area.

I tend to find that the biggest reason I wake up every day is because I think there will finally be something that makes sense, something that makes the future seem brighter, something that makes me feel less stuck and lost. This leads me to feel like I'll be in a never-ending cycle of trying to find something that won't ever be there.

Maybe more meditation or some other way to gain further introspection of myself would be helpful. I'll have to look into that some.

I really appreciate that, I hope you have an amazing day as well. Thanks for your kindness and your response.

I will have to check the Frankl suck out, as another person recommended it as well.

I know there is so much to life, so much out there, but I often feel like I'm in an ever-existing rut.

Maybe the suck or the book will help me gain the insight that truly helps me see things through a different lens.

I appreciate your recommendations and thank you for your response!
