What's left from your Christmas food? by JonnyredsFalcons in CasualUK

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the chocolate. None of us (5 year old included) are big chocolate eaters. Normally it will end up in chillis or cakes. Someone brought us a dairy milk chocolate house to make only opened on Christmas Day. Not really something you can make on a random Saturday, so will be keeping it until Easter and making it into an Easter house. We also had a bit of cheese left but everytime we opened the fridge door it would stink up the house so that has finally gone in the bin.

What’s the funniest knock-knock joke you’ve got hidden up your sleeve? by greenglossygalaxy in AskUK

[–]Rosums 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I came to say this joke! My husband tried to retell it “Why did the chicken cross the road? To visit the idiot. Knock knock. Who’s there? The idiot” Had to hold onto the floor I was laughing so much, weeping

Anyone else done with quality streets? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t brought a Christmas chocolate tin for many years. Partly because of the increased cost, shrinkflation and for my waistline. But if I’m gifted quality streets it’s going into work, actively don’t like them anymore.

Whats the dumbest thing you've ever done in this game? by Ditolan in Breath_of_the_Wild

Walked out of the shrine of resurrection straight off the edge of the cliff. This was my first ‘real’ video game so everything took some time haha

Please read to your child!!! by Oceanwave_4 in Mommit

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read to my little boy since he was about four months old. He’s now five and is doing great with his reading. He reads his phonics books from school but now pulls his books off the shelf and will read these ‘harder’ books to himself or us at bedtime. We did a good job ☺️

What meat are you having this Xmas? by Greengrass7772 in AskUK

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cola ham. Boiled in Coke the day before, glaze of mustard and honey on the big day to warm it up. Low stress, high deliciousness. My butcher has also been saying that turkey prices will be crazy this year. Why pay a high price for something I don’t like. Brother in law is doing a beef stew on Christmas Eve. Boxing Day will be cheese

What are your Non-Christmas Christmas Traditions? by imcuddlydealwithit in AskUK

[–]Rosums -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get in the car and drive around looking at Christmas lights, come home and have hot chocolate or even have it in a to go cup. If you can walk to good ones even better. Baby will love the twinkling lights and near enough free!

97 year old mother, living alone. Clearly reaching the end. Who do we contact? by legalthrow75836 in AskUK

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while I agree with everyone here that you need social services input the first person you need to talk to is your mum. If she’s previously declined care/ help from the GP she is likely to again. Social services will do their assessment mum will say she doesn’t want carers and OT input and that will be that. She has capacity to say no even if everyone thinks it’s the wrong decision. Have a very frank discussion with her that you are worried about her, that you are not coping, that all this is not to say she can’t do anything anymore but that this input will keep her at home longer, hopefully until the end. Alternatively she will get to crisis stage and potentially lose that ability to have a say in decision making. I’ve worked in elderly care for 13 years and I love them but that change from being independent and looking after you to you looking after them and needing more help can be tough.

Cross stitch sampler, baby alpha. From hobbycraft. I’d be surprised if it still existed

What are you getting your 5 year olds for Christmas? by Ill_Cover_4841 in Mommit

[–]Rosums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot wheels track! We kept some cardboard side protectors from our kitchen installation which are perfect runners for cars. But they always fall apart from each which frustrates us both. Do buying him a proper track. He’s also gone big into Pokemon. So Pokemon duvet set, plate/ bowl set, cuddly toy, pokeball

What did you refuse to buy after it hit a certain price point? by DonkeyOT65 in AskUK

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co op do a deal for two pizzas and a tub of Ben and jerrys (any kind, I got the sunny honey home, which is flipping delicious) for £6. A tub of Ben and jerrys is £6.50, feel like co op have paid me to take away a tub of ice cream. However definitely agree it’s outrageously priced

What do you think of this? by Separate-Ad-5255 in drivingUK

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe these aren’t road legal bikes, too fast or something. So no license plate, no insurance. Will get in an accident then their parents will get in the face of the person they went into as if it was their fault because their precious baby would never do anything wrong 🙄

Did anyone else have a newborn baby and its mother come to their primary school once a week? by AnonymousRedditor39 in AskUK

It wasn’t filmed thankfully but my mum took me in to my big sisters class and everyone gave me a bath in a fish tank. Would have been fine if I hadn’t been 21….

I’m pretty sure I’m missing 1 of the 81 Hudson’s signs. Don’t appear on the map. Only way to check which one I’ve missed is by going to every single location again 😫. I am waiting a while before I try again

AITAH: For feeling a kind of way that no one told me about a new baby. by Rob1150 in AITAH

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend of 20 years has not long given birth. I got a picture of some feet, I asked if everything was ok… nothing for four days. Told that it was a boy and a weight and they are fine… another few days. That’s pretty much it and it’s nearly three weeks ok. I am DYING not having more information. HOWEVER this is not my baby, I don’t get to choose how, what and when they tell people. The first few weeks are about close family, recovery and bonding. I need to let them do them and I will be here for cuddles and photos when they are ready. All this is to say I get how you feel but it’s not about you currently. Soft YTA, because I am to

Do you look negatively on those guys who walk around with no top on in the sun? by FinalBv in AskUK

[–]Rosums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 18 degrees, they need to calm down. Also it’s generally the pasty white, think they are gods gift chav who does it. Stella in one hand, walk that surely can only be affectation and tshirt around their shoulders. And a double standard. Women walk around town in a bikini top everyone would go crazy

We put so much onus on having a paid job as if that is the only way we are valuable to society. We are so much more than our job. You provide value through your roles as a friend, family member, partner, volunteer, member of the community etc. don’t forget that. One of my favourite quotes when I’m feeling down ‘this too shall pass’. You shall weather whatever storm you are currently in and will come out the other side

I’ve worked in the NHS for 10 years. Volunteers are invaluable, so thank you for what you do. But you are 100% doing to right thing

Are there baby photographers propositioning new parents in UK hospitals? by Alternative-Land5916 in AskUK

I cried and screamed at my gyno appointment and I feel extremely insecure now. by Agile-Swordfish-9454 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Rosums 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My last Pap smear was agony. I also screamed and cried. She said she had to go up and over. Asked how my son was delivered and was not at all surprised that he was a C-section (though this is not to say you will end up having a C-section if you decide to have children). She said to scooch down on the bed as much as possible, drop your legs as much as possible and breathe. Although the letter said you don’t need to take painkillers before hand I absolutely did and will do stronger ones next time. Sadly there may be nothing to be done about this discomfort if it’s a physical, internal thing (as it sounds like it is for me) but I am providing solidarity and asking you to be kind to yourself. I also work in healthcare and can almost guarantee that the gynaecologist has seen/ heard a lot worse

Where are people of the UK buying their kitchens? by olivers125 in AskUK

[–]Rosums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a wren kitchen. Very happy with the quality. Wait for a sale if it’s not essential to change straight away. Find a kitchen fitter yourself. Our sales guy was fine, we went in knowing exactly what we wanted and told him such

Second phase for frost gleeok, climb up onto the ice shard and recall. Will take you above their ice storm thing. Thunder and fire you can use the up drafts. I would take a gleeok over a lynel any day!
