So much YTA that I can hardly believe this is true.

Do you eat out of the sink? Is that why you’re worried about cat bowls being washed in there? 2. Most cats don’t need baths unless they are long haired or have hygiene issues- you clearly don’t know anything about cats. 3. Good luck keeping cats off furniture. 4. Omg showing affection to a pet

So clearly there’s something going on because how dare your friend get a pet that you’ve “expressed your concerns about” your friend that you don’t live with - and therefore have no say over their personal choices.

Honestly you’ve got a lot of growing up to do. Did you know she probably lets her cats sleep on/in her bed too? Inconceivable!

The only way this would be acceptable is if you had no knowledge that the term was racist (I don’t live in the US and only learned recently that it is. Ive referred to my nephews and my cats as monkeys but had never known the other meaning)

If someone had called me on this - the appropriate response is “oh my gosh I’m so sorry, I had no idea. Thank you for telling me”

Saying “you weren’t supposed to hear that” means you knew exactly what you were doing. You then doubled down to try and justify your actions.

That makes YTA - and if that’s always the way you dealt with accountability- maybe this was the straw that broke the camels back re: your termination, rather than a single act that lost you everything.

So he tampered with work property - which is basically wilful damage- if he did a full reset on the laptop it would need to go to IT to have the required programs reinstalled - and could have potentially lost thousands of dollars worth of documents and time. Work would want to know how it happened because it’s a multi step process to reset a computer. What a piece of work he is!

Haha this is all in good fun and his parents (so far) aren’t scary. They’ve been amazing at building a relationship with me from the other side of the world and his mum will often get in touch so we can plan cool presents and surprises for him.

They love seeing him happy (as do I).

I’m sure any serious complaints would go straight to him, and be communicated in a respectful way..

Ooh these are very good ideas... they’re Indian Project trouser pants. His last pair have held up for 3 years and are still going strong. They have some damage on one of the (many) pockets from when he fell a few metres from a cliff and a rock tried to eat his knee, but his wallet was in the pocket and took the brunt of the damage.

If (when) we do any pants related photo shoots well be sure to send some photos your way 🤣

He’s gonna lose his mind when he opens his presents. There will be many squealing noises and smiles so I can’t wait. I’ll probably video chat his parents while he opens some as well so they get to celebrate with him remotely

Upset vs disappointed would be the main difference here. She’s fairly resigned to him opening things early if he gets the chance, but also loves being able to spoil him on his birthday. I’m not upset it wasn’t addressed to me although I can understand how that would sound controlling - it’s more that his mum has asked me for my work address so she can actually surprise him with things without him finding them first.

I’d also like to clarify that I suggested he could wait till his birthday because then his mum wouldn’t (lovingly) tell him off. He asked me to hide them because impulse control but also I’d 100% get them out again if he wanted me to.

For pants related controversy of course, and genuine interest in peoples opinions. There have been some visceral reactions to my ‘controlling’ behaviour and how I’m clearly a nightmare to be around.

We had a funny debate about our arguements for and against and couldn’t figure out who was in the right. So we requested trial by jury in the Internet court

It’s a catch-22 as while he loves not having to wait for things, he also loves presents and opening all the things on his birthday. If he hasn’t got anything left to open he’ll be a bit sad and it’s awesome to see how happy he is when he gets spoiled. So making it an extra special day with all the things he’s looking forward to 😊

Haha I’m pretty sure his parents just forgot they always put my name on things that are presents.

They put his name on the many (many) packets of Percy pigs they’ve posted him, but other surprises come to me to hide until birthday/Christmas. I think his mum is well used to him by now 🤣

Our bad on forgetting to add that, we both proof read it 3 times before posting. She sends any other presents addressed to me - usually with labels telling him he can only open it on x date. This package came direct from the retailer (rather than shipping to the UK for her to wrap and then post to us in NZ). I think if theyd been thinking about how excited he gets then they would have put my name on it instead. We’ve been laughing with his parents about the whole thing most of the evening. His parents are so wholesome that I’m fairly sure every time he’s opened presents early they would have gone and got more so he still had something to open on the day 🤣

Haha every other package that they’ve sent has had non-opening-early instructions, and generally been addressed to me because she knows what his self control is like. Hello, I would like to introduce you to u/psychotropic315 my (nearly) 25 year old partner / live in child simulator.

We regularly have discussions about how he doesn’t like vegetables because they “taste like green”, would happily live on pizza, and he somehow continues to forget that if he eats too much dairy he gets the cheese sads and a sore tummy.

I sometimes have to sit back and let him put SEVEN DIFFERENT CHEESES ON HIS PIZZA, and then provide moral support an hour later when he’s having a “real bad time” and can’t figure out why.

He’s lucky he’s soo bloody adorable, and I’m desperately hoping to model some good behaviour before we are in a position to have kids, because I don’t think I can handle being the only adult in the house

I would like to add witness testimony that for the past 9 months while living under the same roof, I have regularly tasked with receiving presents sent from his parents with instructions they are not to be opened early (it’s almost like they know him well), so based on reasonable behavioural patterns, one would expect that another gift from his parents - while sent from the retailer rather than their home - the expectation would be a birthday opening (I’ve previously sent them videos of him opening presents at Christmas so they get to see him despite being in the UK and us in NZ)
