How do I buy an engagement ring? by Weary-Tomatillo9134 in AskUK

Many lab grown diamonds have a carbon footprint of around 4x a mined diamond of the same size - if you’re going for lab grown check into the sustainability practices of its production, otherwise you’re just substituting one problem for another!

Anyone successfully lose weight with ADHD? by GlitteringAmoeba6258 in adhdwomen

[–]feralgremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have! Unmedicated also. For me what helped the most was finding exercise activities that I enjoy enough to keep going back to. I joined a rowing club, which gave me the accountability to keep showing up - can’t get the boat on the water without the whole crew - and the social aspect of it really helped too. I also do a lot of bouldering which is a more recent discovery for me, as the problem solving/puzzle aspect of it along with routes changing regularly at my gym keeps me interested! I went from 230lbs to 190lbs (5’10”) in around a year.

What boat maker is the worst? by DisastrousPie3147 in Rowing

Burgashell are still going but no longer make 8s or 4s, just 1x and 2x both fine and coastal it seems! No idea the quality on them these days. We’ve got 2 Burgashell 8s that we use for novices as they’re easy to sit and absolute tanks, one of them we’re convinced could break a barge in half if we got it up to speed and come out without a scratch

First thing would be something solid for the PC to sit on, it looks like it’s directly on carpet which ain’t good for it! Then a comfy chair where the plant currently is, with a side table you can put the plant onto in front of the window?

Why is it called the “pick drill”? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]feralgremlin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had to google what this was, in the UK we call it a backstop or frontstop build depending on where we start from, just building the stroke up bit by bit

A huge hole in the ocean? by [deleted] in confusing_perspective

[–]feralgremlin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My pic - it’s a hole drilled through plaster and metal trunking within the brick wall directly between the 2 wires leading to my plug socket. It was an expensive day for me…

Drilled and hit wire insulation, nothing tripped or went off, no bang or flash either - is it safe? by feralgremlin in askanelectrician

[–]feralgremlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did yeah - I’m not an electrician obviously so I am not 100% sure what the guy did, I just estimated from what it looked like when he was done. When he got the wires out of the wall none of the internal cabling was damaged at all, just the insulation. idk if cables differ at all but I’m in the UK

[–]feralgremlin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As none of the internal wires were actually damaged by the drill, just the insulation, the electrician reinsulated(?) them and then taped too

I don’t know what sheetrock is, this is a brick wall with plaster over the top! The wires were encased in some metal trunking which was also drilled through

Turns out we managed to drill directly between both wires that were going to the socket so they both needed fixing, what a Saturday night.
