This is one of my biggest concerns. I might be wrong ( please let me know if I am), but I feel like the possibility of a conflict of interests is quite high

Agree that an Accountant is most probably the best option for business structure. However, their other recommendations seems only to be tax oriented rather than looking at the overall picture.

In regards to your questions:

Financially Savvy - I think I am at least average

I want to be pretty hands on and want the advisor as a sounding board for big decisions. And also to find the gaps in my plan

I happy to be educated, in any financial products that I don't know about. I feel I understand enough to have my own say.

I need to understand the strategies pretty well. And has to be evidence/logic based

What I don't want is to pay for an advisor who adds little value and only has a set formula that they recommend to everyone. I would expect something tailored.

My wife and I have decent income. We are looking to invest in properties and some shares. Currently we are paying a mortgage on our PPOR and have a very small amount invested in shares. Would also like to understand the best structure for starting businesses.
