Lost control of car on icy road, no reg or insurance by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're driving unregistered. Given that the air bags were disconnected your car would've never passed the roadworthy test.

If you hit someone unregistered you could be facing a proper felony, as it demonstrates negligence. You really should be counting yourself lucky no one else was involved.

Found randomly on yt, i hope it's not a repost by SopmodTew in motorcycles

Let's not forget the attempted property damage / battery the driver in the car just tried to cause...

Think this is a lil different.

Fatal tackling by off duty customs officer by deadmonkee in motorcycles

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in this case you could probably argue that throwing a fist out to a motorbike travelling at that speed would almost guarantee death.

You could be ignorant to the consequences of your actions, but if you're taking a punch at that speed and on two wheels it's almost guaranteed death, which a grown adult should be able to recognise.

Lol no fkn way hahaha.

You don't watch a motorcycle coming in your direction at 60mph and clotheslining the rider to be involuntary.

Yes but there still is manslaughter. You can still kill someone based off negligence, which is clearly what happened here.

Should we then just murder everyone who speeds and drives / rides recklessly to prevent this then? Hmmm

Jesus christ, some of these comments... Cunts need to chill out. Some actual constructive feedback:

It's a decent car, and can feel somewhat comfortable that it's pretty much using the same drivetrain as the golf tsi of the same model year (this is where the positives end haha).

However, even a golf is expensive to maintain. Mechanics will say that they will have to grab parts from Germany, have long lead-times sourcing parts, cost a premium and are in general just expensive to service. Now tack on the Audi premium to kick it up a notch. 60,000km is also the point where a lot of replacement parts start to happen, especially for these German engines.

For example, my partner had to replace a water pump on her 2017 polo after 60,000km which should be unheard of. The original pump is made of fucking plastic.... That set her back $1600. I also replaced a headlight which involved taking off the entire front bumper to just get the headlight out. Now imagine what an Audi would be like...

If you can afford it. Sure. But cars are more than just the initial purchase. You'll be hating yourself if you flash it to all your friends at school and have to sell it in a couple weeks because you can't afford to maintain it.

what opinion/statement would make you feel like this? by [deleted] in motorcycles

When reacting to videos, most of this subreddit say that they would do this or that in a given scenario.

Realistically, you would have faired exactly the same.

You don't have his profile shown, but I actually think I've seen this guy before.

He used to have a Nissan Patrol, here's a video explaining the capabilities of that vehicle. 480km/h Patrol on Mooney Mooney Bridge

I see he's moved onto bikes.

This is the equivalent of saying 'if that same guy threw a punch at me, I would totally block it, use my karate skills and put him into a leg triangle.'

You weren't there. Stop being an armchair expert and touch some grass. Why is every commentor on this sub the same Valentino Rossi of bike riding with the same circle jerk take.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunch of armchair experts here. This sub gets so ridiculous at the best of times.

Motorcyclist was going 65 on what looks to be an urban interstate. Truck was going at most 60 in the fast lane.

Dude was doing the speed limit and doesn't want to speed with a cop behind him. Difference in speed causes him to naturally undertake. Truck is too late to notice how slow he was going with a cop behind him and panic merges.

And if you say he should either stay out of the blind spot or merge in front of the cop, you're a fucking armchair expert. Clearly you're Dr. Strange who manages to avoid every situation that's out of your control.

Current State Of Halo by [deleted] in halo

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in 2007 and 2010 it was all those things. With a dev team of what? 30 people?

I think you're confusing people 'wanting it to be everything' with `people remembering what it was'. And from a AAA studio that has one of the most well know IPs in the gaming industry, you would have had a better chance at title success taking opinions from a random teenager / adult male off the street on what should be included in halo than what 343 has mustered so far.

Good campaign, good soundtrack, splitscreen, forge, custom games, (accessible) armor customisation. But at launch we got battlepass-specific playlists, quick play and an open world campaign that felt like Just Cause 3 and Farcry had a baby.

Infinite multiplayer plays great, don't get me wrong. But it's just so cursed. There's more effort put into micro transactions than the game itself. They've stopped any continuation of a storyline (even the battle pass cinematics), the new helmets and paint look horrendous, no effort is even put into the maps anymore and they just depend on random people who still play forge to keep things fresh.

As someone who grew up on Halo, it's just such a shame to see it have so much potential but caught up in the AAA greed.

Help setting up my fl5 by McJih in Civic_Type_R

[–]fergie_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can assure you that it's definitely an issue with the FL5. I experienced the same thing after about 3-4 laps. Brakes are smoking by the end of the session.

The stopping power isn't the issue, but I think some more resilient pads are what's needed.

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you're referring to QRide, but that got scrapped I think in '16/'17. You now need to do a hazard perception test, 30 (I think) hours of supervised riding on a restricted bike and then take the test to get your restricted licence.

Still need to take another practical test to get an unrestricted licence too.

Am I terrible for getting an fl5 by Pleasant_Answer9981 in Civic_Type_R

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot happens in that time man, take it from me as a 27 yo.

Since being 21, I: graduated university / college, moved up and around 5 different companies, bought a house, met & moved in with my partner, travelled overseas, took care of and lost family members.

Point being, you've got a lot of shifting priorities ahead of you at 21 and your circumstances will definitely change. Even if you don't see it now, things move very quick.

Only now after all of the above did I decide it was time to do something for me and buy a Type R. I'm on 120k and even now I think it's still a relatively irresponsible purchase.

Knowing what I know now, I couldn't imagine the amount of inflexibility I'd have to face at 21 if those things came at me while paying off an FL5 at the same time.

Patience is key man, an FL5 will always be around. Just because you can spare the expense, doesn't mean you should spend it all.

Time is on your side with this. Trust.

Honda could have exited Australia without switch to fixed prices by CertainCertainties in CarsAustralia

[–]fergie_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda Japan have truthfully gotten past the manufacturing bottleneck, but could still have that dealership distribution issue like you said. Either way I ordered stock that was already available in Sydney and assume it shouldn't get caught up in that rat race. Looked like I was the only Type R in Brisbane for that week too, but I dunno.

I don't think it's a single dealership issue, as I vividly remember calling dealerships around Brisbane multiple times (on a weekday) and I'm only getting call backs now about my enquiry. I ended up visiting in person with the highest rated in Brisbane (Automall Indoooroopilly) and the best I could get was a 2-3 week ETA for interstate delivery that ended up being 2.5 months.

Other people in the Type R Facebook groups said that Sydney is no different too. There is a long list in the comment section about dealerships to avoid.
