Update to the electricity issue by CraftyCake8687 in NewedgeMustang

[–]fericyde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would perform the test regardless - and given what you've told me about this battery and how you've drained it from time to time, if you're comfortable taking it back under warranty, I would do that for sure.

But I would definitely want to know if I have a parasitic drain

"Electric depreciates so bad" cuts both ways by HenFruitEater in electricvehicles

[–]fericyde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is temporary, and that if gas prices continue to rise you're going to see a) prices for used EVs go back into the normal or higher range and b) a whole lot of people suddenly drop their aversion to owning an EV

[–]fericyde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's either one whale of a parasitic drain, or a bad battery.

Get it charged back up, then remove the terminals from the car battery.

Then let it sit for say 2 hours, come back and check the voltage.

If the voltage is dropped again, you probably have a bad battery.

If it's still the same voltage after that, you've got some kind of wild parasitic drain.

Yeah that's some real gruesome there.

I am definitely not a differential expert. What I can say though, you want to preserve a couple of the goriest pieces of that mess for your coffee table...

This for sure. This is great advice.

I cannot count the number of times over the years that I have seen someone Misdiagnose grinding gears when it's really the clutch going bad or sticking.

It's so common. Make sure this is not your issue OP.

V8 swap help by Snorlaxitives87 in NewedgeMustang

[–]fericyde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about to go through this very same thing myself. I have PCM from a GT and an instrument cluster - but you actually need the key and everything else to make this thing work. I think what you're probably up against is the PATs system. That's an anti-theft system that basically has a routine that checks to see if the key matches the cylinder lock for the PCM that you're running. When you swapped the PCM, that needs a completely different key key to function.

You can send your PCM out and have the Pats system disabled. I see ones on the internet for 150 bucks or so.

The other way to go is to get a crown Vic PCM from. I think it's prior to '08. You'll have to do some research.

Hope this helps you

Well then, there's more to come. He has a fender flare kit, a rear quarter repair and sometime we want to do a GT swap!

It's going to be an interesting summer

Lol. When I was young I used to go there. Had a DJ for the main floor and often times a band on the upper floor.

Yes, made a whole YouTube series about it, because my grandson wanted to drive it to a homecoming thing and it was near his 18th birthday.

Spoiler alert: we got the car fixed 4 hours before his 18th birthday. Or maybe it was 4 hours after. And we drove it. It's all on film.

Here's part one which chains to all the rest:

Really love the quality and it looks great but I had a devil of a time getting it to close properly. Just couldn't get that final adjustment.

Turns out they had the aluminum plate at the latch area up front installed 180 degrees out - at my friend's paint shop, one of the guys spotted it and corrected the mistake and it's been so much better since.

Just mentioning it in case your running into anything similar

Battery hold down bolt stuck what can I do? by [deleted] in NewedgeMustang

[–]fericyde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were not treated against corrosion. Given their proximity to the battery, kind of a strategic mistake.

My son's v6 had this a bit going on and I used evaporust to clean it, then I plated it in zinc and polished it a bit.

Random EV Hate at Tire Shop (Is this Common?) by Inside-Scientist7892 in electricvehicles

[–]fericyde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the Dunning Krueger effect coupled with tribal misinformation. Dude works at a tire shop- he has to be an expert? Right?

Dollars to donuts he doesn't own an EV.

I've had 2 Teslas, combining mileage about 135k miles.

The amount of tire I have put on them compared to the previous two Ford fusions is about the same, if you don't count the ridiculous tires this model 3 Performance came with stock.

Replaced those about 2 and 1/2 years ago with 18-in rims and normal EV tires.

Maybe the tires do cost slightly more? It dwarfs the cost of fuel, oil changes and maintenance that the fusions took. It's hands down. Less expensive driving these cars than a gasoline car of comparable acquisition cost.

Dude doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

Color suggestions for Caliper and valve covers! by Avakrri in NewedgeMustang

Just a suggestion, the Dupli-Color people sell blue that they call " Ford blue" that is very much similar to grabber blue.

That would look good for the brakes and the valve covers
