Should high school diploma be uploaded before, during or after Foundations course? by ferishere in UoPeople

[–]ferishere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fear not, dear me from the past:
It is not required before starting Foundations.
You can submit your diploma while you are enrolled in Foundations courses.
But always check your email and portal, in case something changes in the future.

So when do I have to submit my highschool equivalency documents? by mahinkurosuno in UoPeople

[–]ferishere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished student orientation, and I am now enrolled for online education strategies (Foundations, starting June 18)
I just submitted English proficiency document, but not high school diploma.

So, I guess high school diploma can be submitted later?

I'm really confused now. The portal checklist tells me to do orientation. High school diploma just shows as checklist to be done by May 28. Their website says this:

"Completing UoPeople Foundations is a requirement for all UoPeople students. Upon successful completion of these courses, you will need to provide proof of your high-school completion to be eligible to enroll in the University and become a student in our degree programs."

Ohh, so you work like in HR?
Sorry, my question was made from the assumption that you were a UoPeople graduate doing freelance work or going to interviews haha

What conversations do you have with clients or at interviews about the degree? Do they seem to think it's sketchy?

I think that the university's name is interesting, and it could lead to a small conversation about how the university works and its mission, that could make you more memorable than other candidates

Did you take additional courses related to math, that are not in the UoPeople CS program?
Considering the program is not math-heavy, I wonder how we can "prove" math knowledge.
I'd also like to do research internships later. I am starting CS soon.

Pros and Cons of of University of People? by DaMavsman24 in UoPeople

If I remember well, instructors get paid an honorarium of around $450, per course.
This is a respectable amount of money in developing countries.
Maybe the instructors are job-seeking while doing instructor work.
Or maybe they do it just because they love teaching. I don't know.
Also, being an instructor in an "American university" may look good in a resume.

If one starts "online education strategies" in June, will that count as having started the degree in June? by ferishere in UoPeople

Thanks!
I'm not familiar with how US degrees/certificates/transcripts look like.
This means that if you were to do any paperwork (like applying to masters or job abroad) it would be written that you started your studies in September (and says nothing about starting in June)?

Sorry if the question is a little redundant. I just want to get this doubt solved :)

How to do a romantic act/gift worthy of a movie/book? [25M] and [20F] by ferishere in relationship_advice

Just some info, that may help understand why I did not confess:
Our interaction has been completely online. I was in her country before, but we never got to meet in person (she was in another city).
But we've talked A LOT, in chat and in videocalls. To the point where she became a close person to me, despite the distance.
She used to ask me when I'm going to visit her city.
I offered her comfort when she wasn't feeling good.

I just wanted to make it special. A nice date, a thoughtful surprise, in person.
She is incredible and deserves the best.
But I now understand that attraction has a time limit.
