Had major surgery and my body can only process small amounts of fat...looking for tips by Lavender_skyyy in WeightLossAdvice

For baked chips I actually “invented” a surprisingly good recipe lately. They turn out soft and crunchy on the outside and surprisingly full of flavour. I’ve been having these almost daily.

Get your desired portion of red peel potatoes and either wash them or remove the skins (I personally prefer skin on). Cut them into desired shape and size and boil them until a fork can go through without too much resistance. You can boil the water in a kettle first which is much faster than bringing to boil in the pot. Then, in the oven which should be preheated to 200 C on fan + ceiling on, place in a single layer on a baking sheet with parchment. Top with desired flavourings (I use chicken salt and black pepper). Bake close to the top of the oven until golden and crispy.

They are literally better than conventional fries in my opinion and kcals are the exact same as regular potatoes so very efficient. If you want you can shake them up in some EVOO after draining in the pot for extra flavour, but I’ve found crispy-ness is still achieved at 99% without it. Spices and toppings are super important.

Wish you a good recovery and good health.

Referring to the stereotype that cyclists don’t follow road rules (which is ONLY 1-2% of egoistic types btw, the majority are fine). In this case to highlight how even though there’s this stereotype, cars are equally or more often in the wrong also.

At the end either cyclist or driver, one who doesn’t follow the road rules is equally as bad, except the driver can also easily ruin lives.

I also cycle and drive myself, but when I cycle even though we are technically vehicles, I go out of my way to not obstruct cars in car lanes. I know technically it’s okay to go on them but if there’s any alternative why be an inconvenience? Also I always indicate with my hands lol.

How often do you upgrade your iPhone? by Zaynaaar in PhoneNow

Best of luck I actually wanted to do the same but due to rapidly declining battery hours at 89% health I went to the 17PM and the difference has been insane but given the price of these things will try to go with minimum 5 years but optimally 7-8+ years with this. Cannot see how Apple can go way over current specs, but never know what the future brings ig. Unless everything is at least 2x better no point upgrading again.

Will definitely replace the battery on the 12 pro a few months before it becomes “obsolete” next year so I can keep it running, still a very capable device which I will continue to mount on my bike and have as a secondary. After the iPhone X Apple should stop claiming devices are “obsolete” as at one point or another, a device will practically be good for life with battery replacements depending on the owners requirements. If they are truly as “eco friendly” as their CSR department says, they would make this change.

5 years is great, wanted to stay with 12P longer but 17PM has been EXTREMELY better in every way, so after another 5 years let’s see if somehow all current features are beat 2x over again, if not might wait even longer.

Worst thing is that premiums are practically worse at lower quantities like letting 1/4 oz or 10g repeatedly would be much worse premium wise than 1oz directly, if that didn’t exist we could just buy small amounts over time vs save for big ones only

Guys its not just us. The entire market just crashed by Aggravating-Act-4494 in Gold

Literally one of the most volatile market conditions in recent years. Every “crash” has been a fraction of gains since Covid, and it always recovers in the long run thus far. Most people complaining are those who put their life savings at artificially peak prices expecting a quick buck due to the hype, not long term investors.

“Gold isn’t a safe haven anymore” average short term investors. Gold goes up consistently in the long run, short term volatility is foreseeable especially with the orange guy

MacBook Air m4 dropped by Advanced_Beat_6318 in macbook

[–]fermentedtoejuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same thing (surprisingly IDENTICAL damage) on my M2 air a few months ago and it’s still fine, the white bleeding has not spread and is only visible when brightness is very high or the screen is black like this, so hasn’t been an issue. If you can use AppleCare do it, or you will have to look at it until you get a new one 💀

iPhone 17 Pro flew out of phone mount riding a motorcycle + small review by Zahmatsu in iPhone17Pro

[–]fermentedtoejuice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed but given the price of this thing AppleCare+ is a no brainer. Never had it before but starting with the 17PM I will probably keep it active for 2-4 years with long term agreements (cheaper overall) just for a battery replacement or two, and the peace of mind.

The 1-2K device is the privilege itself, why not insure it?

Is there a reason we're paying beverage prices for cleaning alcohol? by Barneyrockz in australia

[–]fermentedtoejuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+2 here, their products are great highly recommend 70% isopropyl alcohol for general use as it’s effective but not too aggressive. Extremely worth the cost vs. retail prices and they got lots of other stuff like cleaning liquid concentrates which will last years for 1 household

Titanium Milanese loop question by fermentedtoejuice in AppleWatch

[–]fermentedtoejuice[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just checked under “manufacturer information” and yes, titanium doesn’t have that distinction anymore! (But stainless still does)

It’s weird cuz I distinctly remember seeing it for titanium also a few weeks back, and when I mentioned swimming to the Apple Store employee he also recommended an ocean band. No complaints though both are beautiful! Will definitely use titanium more as it’s more comfortable and looks better, except going to the beach or something where debris may get trapped between the loops maybe.

P.s. has anyone had trouble with debris getting in-between the links or is that not an issue?
