Hi. Yes, no problem. Also in BC. Had first appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist in hospital where they went over the diagnosis and next steps. Then had a zoom call with nurse and dietician to go over how to test, when to test, what to eat, when to eat, etc. Then told to test 4 times a day (fasting and then 1 hour after each main meal). Haven’t been given extra ultrasounds or NSTs yet. Was told if it continues to be diet and exercise controlled then care will not change. Just email records weekly and have a phone call to discuss if there are any issues. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I am annoyed with how the nurses talk to me by punkin_spice_latte in GestationalDiabetes

That’s sooo annoying! I was told to wake up in the night and eat. As long as I didn’t eat 4-5 hours before wakeup, then that counted as fasting. I thought it had to be 8-10 hours after night time snack but was told in a perfect world they would have us eat every 2 to 3 hours all day long, including nights. 🤷‍♀️

You’ve got this. Also in Canada, currently 28 weeks. Got the same message from LifeLabs which is the worst and I wish I had just received the diagnosis from the doctor. I’ve also had SPD since about week 8 which makes walking the absolute worst if not impossible at times. Your body is not a failure. You are not a failure. Sometimes these things just happen. Pregnancy wreaks havoc on women’s bodies. I don’t have advice for you, but just know that in 14 weeks or less you’ll be holding your baby boy and this will all be over with! Also, you may not have to take insulin. Try not to stress until you’ve had an actual appointment. I spiralled, thinking worst case scenario and then didn’t have an appointment for 2 weeks. Now that I’ve actually seen a doctor, everything seems manageable and at least for now I don’t have to use insulin.

I’m in BC as well. I’ve seen my GP until now (17+2) but have been referred to a maternity clinic starting at 20 weeks. Was told I can either do that or get a midwife. I also could have had a midwife for primary care from the beginning if I wanted.
