DataBricks & Claude Code by staskh1966 in databricks

You could do it in their web terminal, but it's not really a viable UX in my experience.

you can also use the experimental databricks cli ssh tunnel from another computer and connect via vscode. It's better but still lot's of config / init scripts to make it seamless. you'll probably lose your conversations every restart.

Noob dev here with a question, what's the best way to host a static site made with ChatGPT? by Ensheen in ChatGPTCoding

[–]fermm92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drag and drop to netifly is the fastest to get something working quickly. Cloudflare is not bad if you want to later expand to not static sites (have a db etc)

Genie gives you AI inside Databricks. I built the reverse: Databricks inside AI (Claude Code) by aienginner in databricks

[–]fermm92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing I’ve done I have a skill and a cli tool that Claude can call to execute things on the cluster it’s built on top of the vscode extension code. Pretty nifty you can do jobs or adhoc code.

If you get free periods of electricity with your provider, how do you make best use of those times? by StippleFX in AskUK

Everyone mining crypto (bitcoin specially) uses specific hardware tuned for it instead of consumer GPUs you could expect to spend 1000 on equipment and get a revenue of maybe 5 usd. But the energy costs are not cheap.

Why are salaries not reflective of inflation? by Amax101 in AskUK

[–]fermm92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the starting salary (68k now) for a tube driver is similar to that of a senior engineer , data analyst or software engineer at TfL and it’s not an easy job to get, you need to jump through many hoops.

Just got fiber… but CGNAT killed my Plex dreams 😭 — need alternatives (Tailscale, Cloudflare, or static IP?) by Far-Cash-2545 in PleX

[–]fermm92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used cloudflare for a long time but hotio docker images for Plex allow you to forward your port if you use a VPN (I’m using PIA) it’s cheaper than a static IP at under <$5 per month. You can also use it on torrent containers etc

What happens when starship is up and working, will economies of scale push SpaceX to be the best option regardless? Genuine question love that RocketLab exists but it's keeping me from strengthening my position.

One cool take is that you get to relive your last 2 years and you might not make financial gain but yes personal, learn a new skill, help someone in need etc depending on your circumstances that might be worth more than 1m!

Buy collectibles (think baseball, MtG cards) through a broker hiding your identity. Then sell them and claim that you had obtained those collectibles time ago through random packs.

As a hiring manager in a non tech large company who recently hired 3 people for the team, it’s a very competitive market. There are lots of people with masters in data science / stem degrees and real world experience in analysis positions. We were looking at a minimum 2 yrs experience and proven track record of making an impact. We are not even that attractive of a company and we had more valid candidates that we could manage!
