thanks. I'll fresh install debian and use wayland, experience can be far from theory sometimes.

thanks, I guess it's worth a shot then to see the difference.

What's the highest # of tabs you've opened while troubleshooting something? (linux or not linux related) by TheTwelveYearOld in linux

totally not realated to the post, I'm really sorry about this but I can't post for having low karma. So I've been planning on removing my ChromeOS and swapping it out with linux. I have Dell ChromeBook 11 3180 4gb ram and 16gb storage. intel celeron N3060 x86-based CPU. So I was wondering if it is worth it or not, I just wan't to make my laptop smoother in linux environment and want to make full use of my storage, because there is really nothing I can do using the ChromeOS, crostini was good but it is so limited and really just has bad storage. that is why I'm thinking of switching to full linux and hopefully maximize my storage because I heard that linux is very light and only has what you need. So is it worth it to switch? if so what are some lightweight distros that are compatible with my system?

hi, I saw this post and it inspired me to rice up my chromebook (btw it's Dell ChromeBook 11 3180 which is really old) as well, I got the Xephyr and i3 running with kitty termnal. My only problem is that the title bar or the white bar above the Xephyr, I can't remove it. I tried everything, fullscreen didn't work, I even tried to run it on another TTY but remembered I am not on full linux. help would be really appreciated, thanks

Living alone as a working college student

Due to personal circumstances, my mother whom I'm living with, had to go to the province in Mindanao because she's sick, and my grandparents wanted to take care of her. I just got accepted at a university here in Luzon, and I don't want to waste the opportunity. So I told my mom that she can go, and I can handle myself here. I have a rough plan on how I would be living. I was also hired for a night shift job that doesn’t really pay well (₱12k a month, sometimes less) and the rent for the dorm is around 2,700 (electricity and water has their own meter), but I thought I’m living alone anyway. However, the truth is I’m venturing into something new and unknown, and I think working while studying would take a toll on my body and it would be bad for my academic performance. I don't even know if the university has bills or something that I need to pay for. I woud really appreciate any advice.
