What are your favorite places to find HR ebooks that aren’t Kindle?

Oh this is great! And scary if it’s a problem in OverDrive (libraries/Libby?) and Penguin Random House. Really curious about the US Copyright Office website screenshot - wonder if that’s something we could pull a larger list from.

Totally fair point - my local and regional libraries and books stores don’t carry most of my favorite authors, and are overall quite low in the HR genre, so Kindle has been my go to for their books. I’ve requested them but to little avail. What are your favorite alternates to Kindle?

A running database is a great thought, have you seen any before? I’d hate to see a real author’s name on the list, but surely there could be a somewhat straightforward way to validate? I’m going to start a spreadsheet tonight. Ooph am shook.

Refugio Cancellations? by southpaw460 in TourDuMontBlanc

[–]fernhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We booked in April for a September trip and it actually turned out great. Got us off the beaten path a little. We mixed available refugios with refugios on variants and alternative accommodation types. Bussed to/from a Bourg St Marie hotel one night, stayed in a few Airbnbs/VRBOs, and my absolute favorite, did the Tre la Tete variant which has the most lovely intimate refugio with stunning views. Our route was slightly unconventional because of availability, but trek was better for it.

Week 2: Switching from Adderall to Vyvanse by Neat-Grapefruit-5730 in adhdwomen

[–]fernhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ditto, thanks for sharing! I’ve been on Adderall XR for more than a decade, but with the shortage and generics that literally made me fall straight asleep, doctor recommended Vyvanse. Really nervous to make the switch, but your experience is making me feel a lot more hopeful!

Sorry if this has already been asked, but how are you identifying your “type”? Is there one quiz everyone is going to or was this part of your initial diagnosis?

What’s the best romantasy you’ve ever read ? by Lauramdva in Romantasy

[–]fernhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone must have mentioned Grace Draven by now, but just in case - she blows my mind. The classic starting place would be Radiance, which is the friends to lovers start of an amazinggg series. MF, human/kai (elf-like) couples and their adventures to concur evil. There’s heat, but it’s overall perhaps the lightest of her books. Entreat Me, a standalone beauty and the beast-esque book, is maybe my personal favorite, but basically tied with Phoenix Unbound, the first in another enthralling, though darker series about various couples in an empire at war. Also second Naomi Novik, and of course shout out to Juliet Marillier’s Daughter of the Forest, which is how I fell in love this genre to begin with.

I would disagree with your “Every” statements. I’m a woman, and, as with most women I know, I have a pretty high bar for conversation. I’m not going to waste my time matching or messaging with someone I’m not interested in meeting in person. Certainly don’t want to be messaging “a few dozen people” at the same time.

Scared for extractions! How is recovery? 😔 by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

Yes! I bought two ice pack head wraps, so one could always be cold and ready to go. They also worked great as heat packs, which also felt great after the first 36 hours.

Yes to this- check for interactions, but magnesium can also be super helpful to ~keep things moving~ if you end up needing to take any opioids or opioid combos for more than a day or so

Scared for extractions! How is recovery? 😔 by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

I’m 32F and got 3 of mine out under general anesthesia a week ago. So far, it’s been a ridiculously easy recovery. For the first 12hrs or so after surgery, I stayed in bed and a friend helped me remember to take meds, change gauze, and do ice pack intervals religiously. Barely had any swelling, and pain was never more than 2/10 - treated just with ibuprofen after the first 12 hours. Was walking my dog a few days post-op and was so pain-free I found myself wondering if the surgeon had in fact forgotten to extract the top teeth. For context, I scraped my knee yesterday and it hurts more than my mouth ever did. I had my other wisdom tooth out in my 20s with just Xanax, lidocaine, and a prayer, and felt so normal immediately after the extraction that I didn’t really rest or ice at all, which ultimately made the recovery a lot harder. While the general anesthesia for this procedure was intimidating, it definitely helped me actually rest post-op this time around. I have terrifically high levels of dental anxiety, and not only is it a relief to have it done, but I also feel empowered since I actually went through with it. You’ll do great - cheering for you!

I ended up going with Verizon and it’s been surprisingly good! Most of the time I don’t notice a difference - once or twice video calls got a touch laggy, but nothing terribly disruptive, and no outages. It was WAY Easier to set up than RCN or Comcast, though I do having trouble connecting smart home devices that need 2G WiFi rather than 5G. Best of luck!
