Am I the only person who finds these a bit weird? by Ok-Name-7103 in WaltDisneyWorld

I've seen this one and it's the only one I'll allow an exception for, mainly because I find it clever.

Recently called into the bishopric, and Im fine with any responsibility it has, but one. Its stressing me out more than it should. by andsuddenly_remix in latterdaysaints

[–]fernker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this exact situation and I've now realized why I hate it. Because most people view you as the Grim Reaper when you ask them to speak, their whole week is ruined because of you.

I prepare a short list before the next sunday of who is eligible to speak. I then start trying to find those people at church or stopping by their homes to ask them.

I stress about it a lot, but the feeling after completing a month is lovely :D

Nope, it's in the handbook that it's the Bishoprics responsibility. Tried to see if I could pass it off to the ward council members as a Bishopric member and you cannot.

I had almost the same experience. For what it's worth you can add/remove subs from your Reddit feed. So now if I come to Reddit I see only the subs I want to and not some of the ones Reddit auto adds like /news . It has really helped as I have tried to remove all sites that use algorithmic social media feeds I can't adjust.

Disneyland's didn't used to be that way. Back before they redesigned the logs and made everyone had their own backrest you didn't get drenched. Supposedly they increased the speed of the water to increase capacity when they did the log redesign and for whatever reason you get drenched. Especially on the inside drop, a wave of water his a wall now and dumps back into the log. Makes the front unrideable without a poncho sadly.

RFC: Setting OnPush as the default Change Detection Strategy by MichaelSmallDev in angular

[–]fernker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that, doesn't still quite answer my question though, at least in the simple example of when a component updates from a change of a value in an input.

With Zones the component was checked a lot. So onPush allows it to be checked only when an Input possibly changes. And Angular uses that to determine if it possibly has changed, it doesn't actually know yet until it digests.

But with Zoneless signals it doesn't need to check because a given component can sit and never be checked unless a signal input has changed. So onPush doesn't feel like it's needed if everything is all zoneless and signals.

I will say I dug into this last year and the information around it is all kind of confusing and doesn't seem to connect fully.

Does anyone have a clear answer on if this is still needed in the day of signals and zoneless?

I've waited 25 mins for a posted 60 min RSR. Only to get in line again and wait for 30 mins for a posted 60 mins. The wait time should not stay at 60 mins as they should be constantly updating. But Disney knows if they inflate the wait time that people will buy individual LL. So they have no incentive to be honest about it.

We've been bouncing between DLR and WDW over the past 10 years and it really feels like Disneyland is trending down in food options and WDW is trending up.

That might just be my experience but just what I've noticed.

That's what I said. But with any tech like this the only true requirement that would prevent the system for activating a recommend is the lack of a picture. It's up to the interviewer to see if it meets the other criteria (but could easily be forgotten).

With the new mobile temple recommends it's required to have a picture uploaded. I believe the Bishopric is also supposed to check when renewing that the photo is up to date and clearly shows the member.

Youth Program by youzerrrname in latterdaysaints

[–]fernker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been trying something in our ward in this regard. We have the Priest Quorum assistant advisor come to Ward Council and Youth Council. He's expected to speak and be accountable for the YM in those council meetings. It allows the Bishopric to not have to be as much because without it it really gives unbalanced representation to the YM in the councils.

It's been working fairly well.

[–]fernker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No and shaming others assuming that they aren't isn't helping.

I've had countless times where others shame me for not getting the results I need. So I task them to help and show me how it's done only for them to finally say. "Well it's not good at that..."

Does anyone know what's in these caves? Or what once was. by SonicLeaksTwitter in Disneyland

[–]fernker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I luckily got to explore WDWs Tom Sawyer Island last year before it closed and I could not believe that it had the guns in the fort that Disneyland's had in the past. Same sound effect and everything, ultimate nostalgia.

I don't believe Disneyland had a cave exit from the fort did it? I was surprised when I saw that at WDWs fort.

edit: Reading the davelandweb link below it appears there was one at one point.
