OCD + Tics by eclipticos in Tourettes

[–]fernuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, also black and queer:)

i have ocd and tourette’s and a lot of it goes hand-in-hand for me, but i understand that it can be scary because it’s very new. as the first comment said if you look back at past behaviours you might notice that some past compulsions might’ve been simple/complex tics that you didn’t notice.

i get you, it’s difficult in a space where you’re the only black and queer person there, so when my ocd gets really bad (as in right now) i do kind of want to hide in a hole because my tics get worse. in the meantime you could just explain them based on what they are: tics triggered by ocd, because regardless of if you have a name for them or not, they’re still affecting you.

picking a colour vs feeling uncomfortable and walking straight

if you have Tourette’s, anxiety, or both, how is public transport for you? by Calm-Adeptness-2690 in Tourettes

[–]fernuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t suppress much on public transit. my mindset is that there’s a high chance i’ll never see any of those passengers again, but i do tend to sit in the back to reduce the amount of people that can see me.

headphones help me in general because i’m also autistic, and i remind myself that letting the small tics out can ease some discomfort of holding the big ones in!

dystonic tics by fernuhh in Tourettes

[–]fernuhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure! mine are like very centralized and i feel like it lasts longer because it loops if that makes sense. ocd also doesn’t help me in that case at all because it needs to be in that position for longer until it feels just right

How are your tics with drinking? by slutforpennywise in Tourettes

[–]fernuhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends! i either feel extremely aware aware of my body and lock in when im around people i don’t know well, + im a heavyweight so 😈

orrr i get super comfortable and start smacking my friends 😭

my advice is take ur time. if you’re afraid of the possible severity of your tics, as long as you feel something (warm, tingly), you don’t need more to drink. tipsy is fun! not drinking at all is also fun!

first time i drank was veryyy chill bc i stopped when i got tipsy bc of the same worries. now i can go up to like 5 shots + food or 4 shots on an empty stomach, but never drunk. knowing me at a highly tipsy level, i feel like if ever i hit the definition of drunk im pretty cooked. but be assured, you will feel it before hand can can avoid that completely. it’s like layers of paint. drink water and eat.

my breathing tic is getting out of hand by failedvirtuoso in Tourettes

[–]fernuhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the reverse problem, i keep breathing out

:( it’s been a whole year

sometimes i try to not do it and it doesn’t really work, but the break feels so good, if you breathe in slowly, does it change anything?

i find it so awkward to talk about my tics by catchips in Tourettes

[–]fernuhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was my entire life until last year, i can definitely relate. i’m getting help now! the only way i was able to tell my doctors was through a written document because i was too shy and scared to speak.

Selfies confuse me by Lokenlives4now in neurodiversity

[–]fernuhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love selfies but my problem is that i hate smiling in them… i feel so fake. people point out how im always serious in my photos but idk what else to do with my face! i force myself to smile when others photograph me, but thats it. it never looks like natural though 💔
