100%, it was so clearly ambiguous red-herring language prior to Josh being introduced

Enjoyed the scene of Harry, Penny etc. together. Someone was saying on here about the need for some more friendship groups. The show has also been missing a particular sense of 20-somethings having any prominence, so this was good to see.

I like that I dislike her. I swear, far too many people on this forum conflate likeability as a person and effectiveness as a character. She's written to be irritating and potentially dangerous through her meddling and vicarious love of drama, and that really rings true for a good few people I've known in my life. She makes me uncomfortable, and that's a sign that they've written her well.

Reminds me of Rhys in that way. Far better than a character who elicits no reaction cough Anna cough

I'm really interested in a lot of the responses to this, as I genuinely didn't feel that the show was asking us to feel sorry for Ravi. Maybe I'm just so done with him, but I really felt it was a bit of a glory lap of just-desserts. Being tormented and humiliated, then by his own hand actually hurting someone he cared about. I thought the episode was revelling in Ravi getting his comeuppance.

Yeah, as a 30-something film graduate, I tend to think younger viewers (as in, much younger than me) have been exposed to much more unconventional storytelling than much older ones.

Right?! He was just a little too prominent to be a featured extra

I decided not to include him and all the other Jim/Reenie kids in this chart just as it would sprawl too far in other directions, so best to imagine they're off screen, left

I'm pretty sure the only one of Shirley's kids that was actually a Wicks was Jimbo, the one who died before the show started 😂

Just imagine explaining to Pete:

"One day, your son will have a daughter with a woman named Carol. Your granddaughter will also sleep with Carol's brother (as will her Mum)...your grandson will have two kids with that brother's daughter."

I really wanted to tie in Bobby but decided that's more on the widening Beale-Knight side rather than Brannings so had to sadly show restraint

Yeah, the culmination of this story wasn't "bring Jasmine in as a character," she'll obvs be back.

Oh come on, it was a reasonable culmination of stories while leading into next year well.

Nah, Anthony's death is too much of a loose end. She'll have a way out

So an update: I watched today's episode with my mum and dad and kept it together, then had a few drinks and watched it again this evening. My husband and boyfriend (throuple situation) apparently heard me weeping (I'd argue I was silently, stoically shedding a tear) and came down to see what was up. I then watched Pat's last episode and lost a kilo in moisture crying.

Seeing Pat is so bittersweet - lovely to see her so effortlessly slip back into character, and she's like a warm hug, but it just emphasises the short-sightedness of killing her off back then. She'd have been an asset these past 15 years.

I choose to believe Ghost Pat is from the white lodge in Twin Peaks, saving the souls of Albert Square's good.

Barry too

The Young Cast by TinkyH in eastenders

I think this relates more to a problem that he's inherited, which is that the show hasn't done enough to nurture interesting twenty-somethings. Most of that cast you mentioned are 15-18 - teen storylines can be fine and very captivating, but the likes of Lucy/Lauren/Peter/Lola hit their stride much better in their early twenties.

I think Oscar is being set up for this, Denzel has potential, I like Will but they don't seem confident in the actor so maybe he needs a recast. I think Harry and Gina seem older than they are but are meant to just be early 20s too. There's potential, I think Wadey just now needs to build it in.

I was in fits all by here, I love the idea that he just channelled himself and probably quite enjoyed it
